chiliYeah, you could definitely look at the album like that… it’s generic enough that you could look at the lyrics differently, but yeah, it’s there. I Wanna Melt With U, The Continental, Love 2 The 9’s, Morning Papers are about the relationship. It’s not the only theme of the album, but it’s definitely one of them

the main concept of the album story is the princess being saved by prince that in my opinion is a pretty weak metaphor to try and explain why he feels like it’s fine to get with a 16 year old mayte. Confirmed in the lyrics it’s about a 16 year old. Didn’t get many of the other themes going on the album. What else did u take away from it?
The project is already so all over the place musically in my opinion at least. Has some of his worst and best moments of that era. Throw in the actual concept of the album I’m so conflicted with how I feel about it at all lol

Honestly you kinda cooked with this
The only thing I can think of on this the idea of shedding ego/blind posturing of My Name Is Prince/Sexy MF and replacing that with the imporance of devoting oneself to a greater cause on 3 Chains O’ Gold and Sacrifice Of Victor even though in this case the greater cause is probably being allowed to groom Mayte as a means for self-fulfillment?

It’s probably his most interesting album. Might drop a little track by track review of it in here at least to gain some clarity for myself because I don’t even know my final thoughts on this record lol
