How do you guys deal with joint pain? Im a couple months in to running - usually just do a few stretches before my run and the first km I typically feel some joint pain at my knees and feet, but after a while it goes away and is manageable. But now I'm starting to feel some knee pain the day after when resting, should I just be stretching more or see a PT or something
Run most of your runs in easier pace or leave more gap between your run for you to recover. Would recommend some strength training too cause stronger muscle = better at taking on the impact from all the running
In what kind of surface are u running and which shoes are you wearing? If youre running daily try not to overdo it by trying to keep the same pace or improve that timewise
Mostly paved sometimes gravel/dirt trails my shoes are these old under armour running shoes - I think I might need to invest in proper shoes

Hmm ok will try that but my easy pace is not much slower than my 5k pace 😔
Any workouts you recommend at the gym?

Less intensity and mileage

There are exercise programs specific to strengthening joints and legs, you could try looking it up or actually discuss that with a doctor

Any pylometric workout you find

Any of the big brands is fine. To me it's more on the shoes since I only dress light
This is my race day shoes love it especially in a crowd where everyone else be having bright ass colored shoes lol
Love these Pharrell Evo SL too, I already own a standard one though, the regular colorways are also really good

nice, I think I'm covered with shoes since I run in Nike Vomero Plus.
but i need proper clothes. I just wear basketball shorts and cotton tshirts (read cotton is not good for running long periods)

Look for 2 in 1 shorts. I usually rotate bw this and the normal shorts. Nike is great I think many would vouch for it
Shirts that are better at moisture-wicking would be an upgrade. Proper running shirts is worth for sure, also tanks. I do wear Airism often on regular running day they feel more comfy to me
Haven’t ran in a while need to get back into it but I don’t really fw running in the cold
Brahhhhh i think my core strength is atrocious and/or tight hamstrings
Went too hard and my lower back is killing me

I’ve been waiting for the cold. And for the guy above asking about cotton shirts, You’ll be fine in them. I think the shoes and shorts are more important.
i'm fairly new to running and learning i reaslly just gotta keep my ego in check lmao. i start way to fast and end up essentially just doing a mile as fast as I can, and then am gassed for anything longer when I really want to be going for longer runs.
just need to take it slow and go as long as possible i clearly need to build up an actual base because i'm sorta shocked how fast im winded

Lmao that's how I was running at first, then a couple dudes running past me, saw me stop and laughed that experience really humbled me
About to do a late night run 🙏 it’s so much harder to motivate myself to run when working a 40 hr week job vs college era. I salute everyone in this thread for making time to do this 🫡
you’re only one work out away from a good mood
Utterly befuddled!
Just bought a Garmin forerunner 55 and was doing some comparative a***ysis so did a 5.5k tracked on Strava app and the watch
Strava: 5.56km @ 4:27 pace (24m 44s)
Garmin: 5.48km @ 4:31 pace (24m 48s)
Truly no idea which was the more accurate, don’t understand how the 4 second disparity loses 80 metres either

strava does something during uploads on the backend to adjust for elevation, gps, or some other stuff i dont remember. i believe garmin more in these situations because its much more representative of my effort in the moment. and of course all of these trackers are bogus anyhow so enjoy the rough estimates. also dam u fast lol
4 weeks into this running program, its telling me to stay within heart rate zones but the runs feel so easy
eventually im training to run 30 mins straight no breaks and afterwards my goal is 5K under 30 mins
Sub-19 5k by end of the year
