I still ain't upgrade to a PS5 yet and neither have a few of my friends. It ain't like we don't have the money either (we're casual gamers, btw).

GeForce now on a steam deck pushes that streaming agenda pretty far. It feels almost native with very minimal input lag/streaming artifacts. That’s the future if it can get mass adoption. I could see Microsoft allowing it on whatever the next Xbox is, hopefully Sony wouldn’t be far behind

Yeah geforce now i'ts crazy good. I think it will be the future as internet keep getting better and better.

Microsoft needs to update their cloud service it's pretty behind geforce now. But i think it's pretty decent these days. I play all of gamepass through it, only when there's a very big game i get one month of geforce or boosteroid and play it there to get the best quality.

Why? It's only a different but cheaper way to play the same games. I have my PS5, but as for xbox i play all of gamepass through streaming i have no intentions on buying an xbox.

It's not that i WANT it to be the only way to game, but if it is i don't really care, owning doesn't impact my life in anyway.

But i do think it's going to be the way MOST people game though, because consoles and PCs are just getting to expensive to average person to consider., and the streaming tech is getting way too good.

i hope they keep the disc drives games are getting so expensive now as well, i buy and sell all single player games

They could but i doubt it, i think i've seen somewhere that 90% of game sales are all digital nowadays.

I used to do this too, but i think IMO subscripition services kind of replace this.

I think the disc drive will still exist during the PS6 generation...But after that though? I'm not sure but I still think it might be a thing hopefully

Yeah that sucks, not all games are on game pass ect and if you want to buy say 10 new triple a games a year it’s crazy money. Single player especially I only have one time use for most of them. Multiplayer games obviously have a lot of replay value but yeah they need to bring something in for digital even if it was like renting the game off the store or something like that

I would rather Sony keep the disc drive than introduce something like Game Pass... But well whatever Sony does during the PS7 generation so do I hope it's the right thing for everybody

Don’t most disk-based games on console nowadays still require you to connect to the internet and DL the remaining parts? And once a specific version of that game isn’t made available for a certain console you can’t use it anymore i.e you have to go thru the consoles store to play a BC game and purchase again instead of using an OG disk?

How is that different from what you are talking about in function besides just owning a physical disk which is more like a license anyways

It depends... It varies from game to game. There's a website dedicated for all of that stuff.

Yes depending on which game it is so is it a license thing but it shouldn't mean not been able to sell it to somebody else and that other person can't use it.

Now my big issue isn't physical vs digital... My issue is streaming games and that been the only way to do it in the future. I don't mind options... But I don't like none existent options or very limited options so as long as everybody can do it the way they like to game so is that good but MS, Nintendo, Sony etc. getting very greedy and making it difficult been a gamer/consumer is what I hope doesn't happen in the future and I won't support it.

But yeah physical games need to actually be physical or very close to that or well then it doesn't make sense tbh... Now I hope they won't start doing bad/weird stuff with the digital versions of the games though :/

Yes to your point about the PS6, but isn’t that already the case for most games on the PS3 going backwards? The option to play PS1/2/3 games natively on a PS5 is limited to what they offer on the store already. I agree with your sentiment but I’m p sure most retro games you already either have to keep the OG system on hand or jump thru hoops with a digital store version to play it anyways

Xbox 360/One is a lot better about BC but I think some titles are like that. I don’t think you can play any of the OG Xbox versions of the GTA trilogy and you have to buy the remastered through the store.

Well honestly it's only a very limited selection of PS1/PS2 games on the PS Store and PS3 games can only be played via Sony's streaming service... But there's rumors about either on the PS5 or PS6 so will Sony make some PS3 games playable aka downloadable on the console (PS5/PS6) but that's not a thing happening for sure so all we can do is wait and see.

Yes I gotta say that since the X1 so did MS do a better job about it in the last 2-3 years of the console's life cycle. And then so did it continue sort of on the XSX before its support as in more Xbox/X360 games been playable on it and them been remastered etc. as well ended like what... 2-3 years ago? And now well they've to be bought again once a port, remaster or remake of those games is out during the XSX generation, the one after it etc. But yeah let's hope that's not it and that MS and even Sony will to find a way to make old games playable on their consoles again and it's not via the Cloud/a streaming service :/

Well yeah when stuff like this happens so are we forced to buy these games again and maybe even pay full price... Or if we're lucky then only $10. But yes this needs to be handled better in the future for sure.

Rockstar will sell GTA 6 again on the PS6, i don't believe it will 60fps on the ps5 not even the pro.
