I dont understand how SSD work, but apparently PS5 SSD is really fast..

so if I get an external SSD to increase the storage, does that mean the games will 'slow down'?

Imagine how bad it’s going to be for those that couldn’t get a preorder. Even the consoles that’s coming some time after release date are going to preorders.

It’s going to be a while before people can actually buy these if they missed preorders.

A regular external SSD that connects via USB will not work for PS5 games, as the SSD will be limited by USB transfer speeds, and cannot reach the PS5 requirements. To increase storage, you will need to buy an PS5 compatible internal NVME drive that looks like this: https://www.newegg.com/samsung-1tb-980-pro/p/N82E16820147790?Description=samsung%20980%20pro&cmre=samsung_980%20pro--20-147-790-_-Product

These will be able to connect into a slot in the PS5 to increase the storage

Right now, Sony has not verified any drive to be compatible with the PS5, but that should happen by next year
