Honestly I'm excited for anything next gen to be shown off console wise.
I like that they are trying to stay competitive in price. You could make the argument that they already beat microsft so badly that they shouldnt really be a factor in there plans and yet they still are treating them like a serious competitor.
Competition is key for people that love technology.

If Microsoft comes out with 2 versions of their console it could lowkey be a genius move. Lockhart would have to be $300 or less though.. No way Sony is getting anywhere near that.

As long as it can play games in 1080p with no drawbacks to the more expensive hardware as far as games are concerned(talking like 2 years from now when we get true console exclusives next gen) then I'm all for it.
I still am very excited for this ps5 reveal because I assume both consoles are very similar.

This could end up backfiring though, if they have to develop games for both consoles, the lower end one could hold back the higher end or at least make development take longer. It's also possible they basically price out Sony but without exclusives I still think people are going to gravitate towards PlayStation.

Sony is always going to have their exclusives, no denying that. I was more talking about the parents who are buying their kids a new console this Christmas and are just going to go with the cheapest one. PS4 being $100 less than Xbox One at launch was a big deal and definitely helped their sales numbers initially. PS4 was still the better package overall, but if all things are equal this time around, the cheapest console will have an advantage.

Btw guys the latest rumor is that Sony will have a PS5 event in April 2020 to probably use it to celebrate the 1 year anniversary since they revealed the first details about the PS5 and to have more stuff prepared for us like revealing the PS5 controller, UI, some games etc. And then at TGS 2020 (September 2020) to probably reveal PS5's look, price, release date etc.

That's a hard rumor to believe, I mean hell do most electronic companies ever reveal a new product and then it drops 2 months later?

PS4 Slim was released the same month it got revealed and then 2 months later so did the PS4 Pro drop.
@Electric Well it was said to be next month but with the latest rumor so won't I be surprised if it doesn't happen before this Summer.
@WaveyGod Well I hope that it'll happen this Summer but don't be surprised if it doesn't happen until September or October 2020. But I don't see it happening before August 2020. But maybe so will it happen between April-June 2020

Well Sony is very secretive right now so it might happen out of the blue. But Sony themselves said "soon" though so we'll see what that means in the next 1-2 months hopefully.

A $300 system will have a worse failure rate than the 360 which was something like 55% lol

Maybe 300 is a little too low though, as long as it's cheaper than PS5
