damn this just confirms how ass Rafa’s draw was
He has been stupid good too. His serve has been exceptional. I think he should be the favorite on Saturday
Here’s an idea: women’s matches should switch to 5-setters at grand-slam events beginning from the quarterfinals..
Cus seeing grand-slam finals ending in just 68 minutes (Swiatek v Paolini) is so anticlimactic

They should but they won’t

The only thing is i still don’t trust him to actually win a slam, he could be 2 sets and a break up, serving for the championship at *40-0 and I would still have doubts he will actually be able to close it out,

agreed lol it would completely change the dynamics of the matches too, eg I think Ons would’ve won Wimbledon last year if it was best of 5, the men get more time to settle in to the moment over 5 sets rather than losing the first set and panicking in a best of 3.
Also would just be better for marketing women’s tennis in general if they could sell 5 set epics

Exactly, the pressure gets too elevated in a best-out-of-3 format.. Top players like Rybakina for example might’ve started to adapt and ultimately might’ve won the match, setting up a more interesting finale (no disrespect to Paolini, just wanna see top seeds clash).
And they’re getting paid the same amount as men do so.. yeah lol

And just like that
And just like that
of course, dude is just a serial choker never to be trusted in slams
clay court szn finally over, the worst slam of the year, every year - now time for the best slam and the best season: grass season, wimbledon season
hate that we have to go back to clay for olympics smh

Let Nadal have this last one
Was very relieved that Alcaraz managed to clutch it out
I saw the match live (on TV) when that ball from Alcaraz was clearly out and the umpire let him win the point anyway. My reaction to that moment: “ayy we take those”
Potential blockbuster this Friday
great match naomi kinda threw the match away after getting the mini break back in the tiebreak tho
