Ayyy enjoy fam RE8 and GT7 are must-plays

if you’ve never played them before then Tetris effect and thumper are also transcendent experiences, I lack the capacity to describe with language just how incredible they feel to play

    that didn’t work at all

modding skyrim vr sucks it always gives problems

Copped Light Brigade and Synth Riders. LB seems pretty cool, gunplay feels less good than Pavlov but not bad and since it’s a rogue-like should stay interesting. Synth Riders already seems like a blast I’ve only done like 2 songs lmao bet my girl will like that one

I didn't cop one ever but would love to hear your review. I can't see myself getting one til they bring it down in price with something worth playing for me. I am letting the VR world cook. Also would like one that works console and PC

Damn this s*** ended up longer than I thought lmao, anyways.

I’ve never even tried any other VR so this whole experience was brand new to me, and I don’t have the insight to compare it to other VR hardware like the quest, etc…

Speaking just on the hardware side. It feels very high quality and I would guess just right or even delivering slightly beyond the price point. The PSVR2 isn’t wireless which is a bit of a bummer because the cord can get wrapped around your legs as you turn but overall it’s not that disruptive. The headset is comfortable and easy to set up, but the positioning of the lenses can get a bit annoying IMO as often times the headset shifts minutely and one of my eyes will end up seeing the graphics slightly blurry because of that. The blurryness is a constant irritant to me especially in a game like Pavlov where you can use one eye to aim down sight. I’m not sure exactly if this is due to the quality of the lenses and fidelity of the game (maybe the tech just isn’t there yet for Uber clear quality), or if it’s because of smudges on the lenses (even though I religiously wipe them every time I put it on), or just due to slight shifting of the headset putting my eye in non optimal viewing spots. Either way, it’s definitely noticeable, but bearable. Maybe this isn’t as common with other VR headsets.

The quality of your experience with VR is also heavily dependent on your play area. I have a small “office/den” in my apartment which allows me to close the door so my dog doesn’t become a casualty of me moving around without seeing him, but also limits my play area to a small enclosure which the psvr2 software even warns me saying my space isn’t optimally large enough. However the space works fine for me and after you set your space parameters it warns you when you get too close to “out of bounds” so I never hit walls or anything. My biggest gripe is that apparently my office is not bright enough so my headset often loses track of the environment and freezes my games to tell me it can’t track my position until it regains awareness of my space. So while my space isn’t optimally large and/or bright enough, it does work, but this just adds another hurdle to the “casualness” of VR. Frankly put, it’s a lot of effort to go through just to play games in VR and while Pavlov especially is a ton of fun, so far I don’t feel my money has been especially well spent. In fact I probably haven’t even played VR in over 2 weeks.

That being said, VR as a whole is super interesting and immersive but is also totally reliant on the quality of the games you have and where your interests lie. I have Pavlov, The Light Brigade, SynthRiders, and No Mans Sky. Pavlov is amazing but suffers from low population compared to other mainstream shooters (another issue I’m reminded of for Pavlov is that for some reason my mic doesn’t work in game at the moment with PSVR2 and this appears to be a common issue). The Light Brigade is a rogue like shooter which has a lot of charm but frankly doesn’t handle shooting as well as Pavlov which is a shame because if it had Pavlov’s shooting mechanics it would be even better. SynthRiders is cool but it’s basically guitar hero in VR and is heavily monetized, lots of songs are locked behind additional payments. No Man’s Sky is supposed to be incredible but frankly the fidelity of the environments on planets when walking around is so poor that I get a headache trying to look at anything, so I’ve never even made it to a spaceship and flying around which I would imagine is the best part in VR. The lack of a game that I’m craving to go back and play despite the cumbersomeness of VR, has been a large contributor in me not using my VR in a while.

I’m not interested in Horizon Call of the Mountain as it sounds like a climbing simulator, and I’m too scared to try RE7 even though I’ve heard it’s incredible. The games I’m most looking forward to in VR, and the main reason I really wanted VR, are the RE4 remake which is already one of my favorite games, and arcade flight games like Aces of Thunder (War Thunder VR mode), Project Wingman (an Ace Combat inspired indie game that’s insane quality), and of course the next Ace Combat game.

Do I feel like I wasted my money on the PSVR2? As of right now, honestly yes. VR is very cumbersome with the amount of caveats it has and the lack of “casualness” inherent in the tech because you can’t really just pick up and play it. If RE4 and the arcade flight simulators really blow my mind when I finally get to play them, I’ll likely re-evaluate my thoughts on PSVR2 and really end up enjoying it. Additionally they’ve locked the tech to the PS5 at the moment so you really can’t even use it with a PC, until/unless the community finds a workaround the way they did with PSVR1.
I think $600 is actually a fair price for what you get in the VR hardware. But VR experience is still very niche and the PSVR2 does not have the backlog of games to justify buying it in my opinion just because I don’t have interest in any of the games that are supposed to be the hardware sellers at the moment like Horizon, RE7, and Gran Turismo (though gran turismo I am actually interested in, just not for $70).

"But that’s not all! In an upcoming software update, we’re updating the Quest 2 and Quest Pro GPU and CPU. Quest 2 and Pro will see an up-to 26% CPU performance increase with an up-to 19% GPU speed increase for Quest 2 and 11% for Quest Pro. "

I bought an extension usb-3 cable which has made the cable less of an issue, i dont find myself tripping over it as much, with an office setup i would recommend doing the same and then getting a pully system to keep the cable overhead in the center of the room and then you would never cross over it during play. Pavlov feels a lot better in a bigger space where you can make use of roomscale and actually crawl around and whatnot, i also always wear shoes when playing so its way more comfortable to crouch and whatnot.
