So, I have been using my credit cards to pay my rent at home and at school, which totals $2,400. The only reason I pay rent at home is that my name is on the lease. My credit limit on my Capital One card is $8,000, and I’ve used $5,000, so I'm almost at the limit. My bank account on the other hand has exactly $1,000 left.
Additionally, I have run out of financial aid for the spring, so I have to pay my dorm rent at UVA myself, which is $1,400. The problem is that I don't have any money left because paying rent at two places has depleted my savings account. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I have been applying to jobs, but no one has called back.
On top of this, my mom and I have to pay $645 for the water bill, or else they will put it on my credit as a judgment since my mom put the water bill in my name. The bad news is that my mom doesn't have enough money to pay the rent or her half of the water bill, so I'm dealing with that on my own as well.
I'm trying to keep it together, but it seems like everything is slowly deteriorating my health, and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep it together.
You need to talk to a financial officer either at a bank or at your school and go from there tbh
Wtf is KTT gonna do, Oak?
dam
How do you have a 600 dollar water bill
Stop paying rent in two places when you’re only living in one? Idk man, kinda impossible to pay two people’s rent (three people really; your dorm rent, your share of rent for the house and your moms share) and water bills with no steady income
Thought this sounded like the guy whose mom spent $8000 on a parrot and it's deadass him Tell her to start pulling her weight @op, dafuq
maybe try getting a job on campus? if you cant get financial aid maybe talk to your career advisor and see if theres a different sort of aid you can be on other than the one you had? if youre in debt im sure something can help. idk why you asked this forum though, they cant do much
Stop living on campus and transition to online learning.
You may need to walk into a fast food/retail place (McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Starbucks (good pay rn for the work), Target, local grocer) or 24hr gym (planet fitness is always hiring) and see if they are hiring which they always are. You need 2 jobs
You need to minimize your expenses and pay off your debts first, meaning your mom needs to contribute heavily to helping as well (unless she’s bed ridden).
Get rid of the f***ing credit cards bro, if you can’t afford it or knowingly know you can pay it back, stop f***ing yourself over with loans. A credit card isn’t “free money”
Cut one of your living places out or stop going to college for a year until you find a job and get accustomed with it

yeah you're trolling
I know, it’s a lot, but I don’t have any one else to really express my situations to so I just hold it in.
You should look into grants.
Always pay your credit card off immediately and if you have to pay the minimums balances do the ones with the highest interest.
What's your degree going to be in? I stupidly racked up a lot of credit card debt in college but bailed myself out by getting a high-paying job right out of school
You need to actually be hustling now too, though. Target is out here paying people $20 / hour

It’s from a previous home. So my mom and I moved out of our old house in 2021, but we had an outstanding water bill. They sent it to collections and we had like a payment arrangement set up. The issue is - if we don’t pay it then it goes in my credit as a judgement
