    No

    Drake
    Polo G
    Lil Tecca

Drake already established himself as the soft R&B dude that can rap before he started rapping like he's the godfather.

I've never heard anyone that said Polo wasn't a street nigga.

And Tecca himself said he wasn't about that life lol and transitioned into making love songs after that.

i wouldn’t be surprised if some of these already famous street rappers keep doing that stuff just to keep having material cause they got the pressure to be real from fans

Yeah authenticity usually mattered. It pretty much stopped mattering when whites, asians, arabs, and other groups started being diehard fans.

Lying in your raps when other people go thru it is a no no. The only real exception was Cube at the time cause Cube was socially conscious. Personally, it doesn't matter to me if the music is good but sometimes I do sit back and think "Wow you dont have to lie when you are actually talented"

Drake's most lauded era critically was 2012-2014 when he was trying to be that kind guy

it's also the peak period of the drake is the type of dude jokes which was a play on him trying to act hard

Lil Tecca still says random stuff in his lyrics that portray exact opposite of what he is even tho he acknowledges it

Polo G has no track record whatsoever or connections to anything

Who gives a f*** about a group consensus on this

nah cube hung around everybody on NWA tho eventually he did the same s*** too lmao.
walked into the record label like f*** it.

authenticity matters for reasons outside of rap tbh. you mix industry with authentic d*** selling/ killing / pimping/ pain

you get a problem on being checked or not for your clout.

but if a rappers whole personality seems based on a life they havent lived, then the music falls flat. im just not interested in hearing a fantasy through the eyes of someone who’s never even seen the s*** they talk about

i guess a good comparison is storytelling because oral histories are an underrated creative artform

if someone telling an obviously madeup story thats supposed to be fictional, ill laugh along cuz that s*** supposed to be funny

if someone telling me about their life and they fudge some little details, im not gonna ruin a good story by interviewing everyone they know

but if someone trying to present to me their life as a hood drama and i knew they grew up in the suburbs to two good parents, im not gonna waste my time. i get nothing out of talking to them

U think rappers are continuing the cycle of systemic racism? Lmao

Depends. I don't really care especially if they're not on some self righteous shtick but seeing people you clearly know aren't really living that life talk about trapping and opps gets silly. Don't understand why artists want to cosplay especially in this era

This is a good point but you're wrong. Drake was definitely the soft dude but the things he'd got into from the wealth and power he's got since then makes it pretty clear he isnt that guy anymore. Not saying he's really living that life but he is funding that

He basically is the Toronto Godfather

That last paragraph is what I'm trying to get at, like if Lil Baby got exposed for not being a street nigga tomorrow, would his career be the same? Or will people just push it to the side and still listen to the music?

When Rick Ross survived that beef with 50, it proved most people don't care.

    They shouldn’t lol.

What’s wrong with being a CO? People made it seem like he was a cop

People only care when they don’t really like the artist.

Like 95% of the rap game lies or exaggerates something
