Imo it’s push’s only solo classic

Cap, Darkest Before Dawn is as good as Daytona.

Prove what? push won the beef, what is there to discuss? Did nas not beat Jay, cause jay sold a lot of records with his next album? Y’all swear beef ends rappers careers or it doesn’t count 😂

but what's the point in mentioning that? I dont even disagree, but the thing is nobody would argue that today bc its only crusty hip hop heads who care about that s*** today. hov nas is timeless bc people still argue ether vs takeover and it wasn't as one sided. pusha drake beef morphed into something else and ultimately dragged for too long, aging everything around it

now for some that wasn't the case bc Kanye and drake age in dog years anyhow but until Push drops a new album there's nothing else to discuss abt him other than s*** that happened 3 years ago

once you figure out the admittedly great wordplay throughout it becomes pretty much a pointless listen

One single line that literally doesnt mean s*** and is completely subjective lmao

I personally don't even pay attention to the wordplay that much

As much as I like his other solo projects, Daytona is the clear highlight. It is the only album of his that has a strong impact on music as a whole

I mean like you said there’s nothing else to really talk about. He sells coke and has braids, that’s it. The truth is the beef is one of the greatest achievements of his career and why it’s brought up so much. This isn’t my opinion we literally know this is a fact because whenever Pusha trends anywhere Drake also does. Can’t even google his name without somehow being directed to the beef.

beats are good and I mentioned them in my other posts. content is your usual push and that's it

any love this album is getting is justified but idk if it can offer anything past that. Griselda launched three careers into mainstream at the same time Daytona was released, and Earl legitimized and unified an entire movement, putting more people on MIKE, starting the more 'active' phase of Navy Blue's music career, and inspiring tons of slums-adjacent music to come out

those are the same examples structurally and aesthetically that managed to go way past what they offered in that particular year. Daytona is the 'same old' which isn't a bad thing, but everything else around it sure brings it down in my eyes

  • Dec 2, 2021

there's 29 more days to top that so not that much of an accomplishment
