and I absolutely f*** with EL-P
The post was from 03' and that a distinctive time with the back-pack vs commercial rap era.
The underground was a whole different beast then. Ppl had to really press up their own CD's, do a mass amount of shows, especially worldwide if the name is that good/hot enough. Mainstream artists had to really give out CD demos to some A&R to get on and all that and had to rely on the radio and MTV/BET/VH1 videos and award shows to stay poppin...
Streaming era wasn't really in at all yet.....physical CD bootlegging was @ its prime then, along with Limewire and Megaupload etc....plus YouTube wasn't even around yet.
But back to the backpackers...See THEM niggaz just hated that Neptunes run back then. They had the game in vice grip. They ran 1998-2010 whether ppl like it or not.
legendary s***
Yeat haters pay close attention this could be you getting laughed at by kids 20 years in the future for hating on a legend.
Tread very carefully.
'haterz - shmaterz! your caught up in the hype. neptunes and timBAland = nothing special. an example of just how bland , boring , mediocre, and UNIMAGINATIVE popular music is at the moment. look to EL-P.'
popular acts have just as much haters. no matter how good they are
Every artist deals with some level of hate, popular or not, that's the thing about having enough courage to put yourself out there.

You know niggas was probably writing letters to each other calling Beethoven mid back in the 1800s too
they 100000% did. shoutout Amadeus for 'too many notes'
Goes to show that a lot of legendary and influential art isn’t universally loved at its time
808s and heartbreak a prime example
We could say this about a lot of Ye albums
Graduation( he went too pop)
Niggas hated 808s
They Complained about MBDTF
They Hated Yeezus
They Said ye was over after TLOP
Ye...
Jik still gets hated for some reason.
But Donda brought these dumb f***s back

I honestly understand the JIK hate, because it's him trying to get back into the Christian Faith.
