Rap is down over 40 percent and the same niggas that ran the game 10 years ago are still running the game overall today
But yeah muh oldheads bad
Lmaoo like why can’t niggas just acknowledge it’s never been like this before
Imagine Hov Em Nelly Outkast/50/Ludacris still being the top rappers numbers and aura wise in 2013 going into 2014 and no Cole Drake or Kendrick on the horizon. That’s where we are at rn
then why do “old heads“ rarely use their power to promote said artist on here instead of hating on a young nigga you don’t like? not talking to you especially cause i don’t know your thread history but i don’t go into nas and biggie threads now and call em trash just cause i f*** with the new s***. you get what i’m sayin?
Cause those threads never get attention whenever they are made lmao the same people on here who cry about "old heads not liking new music" don't even be checking for new artists that get posted on here like that unless they get some kinda industry or blog co-sign
they are a cancer to hip-hop/rap in general tbh
they want rap to sound like the same s*** from their times for all eternity, with no improvement, sad.
Those are people stuck in the past badly and so close minded they won’t try out some new s*** and that’s how they get left behind. A real fan is always gonna be searching and trying new s***
"they want rap to sound like the same s*** from their times for all eternity, with no improvement, sad."
Nah. We actually just want the new s*** coming out to stop being f***ing garbage. Really not asking for much.
All this s*** is cooked

i am over 30 and listen to everything i dont like to box my musical tastes i even listen to other different styles of music as well

We got Cole Drake & Kenny all in one. Ice Spice.
This is an actual fresh new take on rap

The fact people can’t simply enjoy the historical discography of hip hop without arguing with each other about music they don’t like being popular currently or in the past is a cancer.
So much good music new and old who gives a f*** if someone preferred one variation of the style over another.
ironically what you’re saying actually applies more to the demographic who have been teenagers between 2016 to now lol. They/you all keep holding on to that general post 2017-2020 sound lol
The demographic of older people you referring to are actually upset because rap’s mainstream sound doesn’t/hasn’t went thru any significant changes in a minute.
People use melody , aesthetic and/or street s*** to mask not actually being able to fundamentally rap. we’re stuck in that purgatory because it’s a whole generation of people since 2016 who have developed rap dreams under that premise of masking not being able to actually rap with melody , aesthetic and/or street s*** lol.
The biggest cancer to rap is the idea that melody/trap beats makes you futuristic or that being adjacent to street s*** automatically makes you real or someone is a dweeb for not fw it lol. That trickles down to what opinions people are allowed to have on trash
What is good rapping to you

Ok consoomer

Is it really fair to compare the youngins to them though? I don’t get how @op can call old heads “cancer” when they are, for one, masters of the craft and the best that the game has to offer, and two, are always trying to adapt and accommodate the new sound into their style that most certainly do not sound like the same they were making 10 years ago.
I mean be logical dude if they did make music that sounded ‘old’ and it was a commercial success, you hating on them for that would just make you a tumor
the issue is on both sides. the younger artists tend to only rly pull inspiration from the most recent s*** like yeat/opium. they dont rly care about learning the history of rap or building off the forefathers
the oldheads just dont have an ear for it like they think they do. the reality is true musical acumen is pretty rare, most old heads just wanna hear the same s*** over and over because thats all they know rly
we need to ultimately support talent. but my point is people are REALLY bad at discerning musical talent
Can you name drop some of the old heads you’re referring to here cause I don’t see it
I think there’s a distinction between making music that sounds like when they were younger vs innovating their signature sound and style that isn’t being drawn here.
old people get cancer more than young people but its kinda f***ed up to insult them for it

It’s not a “variation”, it is a downgrade that is getting worse with time.

Anyone who exclusively listens to boombap/lyrical s***
I don't have ppl memorized lol but I see that s***. Not necessarily on ktt but in general
KTT too ed to get this
two different styles of music that can be executed well
It’s not a “variation”, it is a downgrade that is getting worse with time.
There’s plenty of variety in hip hop these days, even more than back then.

True, but most of it is trash and the actually talented artists are not being promoted at all.
True, but most of it is trash and the actually talented artists are not being promoted at all.
Who does that lie on? Cause a lot of these talented artist you speak of don’t have the strongest connections for that push.
But the truth of this era is anything could happen from word of mouth or just gaining enough traction so there’s something definitely missing in the area of exposure, gate keeping aside.
