I think everyone is starting to realize Baby peaked on My Turn and now he isn't getting played as much
man what lmaoo nigga hasn’t even released another album since then
I mean I may be oversimplifying this but there are way more old songs than new so this should make sense right? I’m sure the panny played a part in this as well
New music sucks. Don't make it overly complicated lol Pandemic excuse no longer works when I see everybody I know going out freely these days lol At the pre games they are playing old music cause no new music is any good
Blame modern music for only caring about s***and d****, even when in the middle of a pandemic. It's like this generation of artist are too stupid to come up with anything with substance
This s*** is ass no matter how much these labels tryna to force s***
Agreed, people are no longer as easily programmed as they used to be. Everybody is their own DJ with access to millions of songs in their hand. Also, a lot these new mainstream acts promote everything but music, talent, originality, etc. People are no longer fooled by an artist like Meg the Stallion winning every award, but dropping some of the most basic music..
u teeling me people are listening to dark fantasy and carter 3 instead of yeat and nba young boy
say it ain't so
One interesting point that y'all aint thinking is that streaming is becoming more and more accessible, like in the past my father would mock me for streaming and in the past year he decided to buy a streaming subscription just because he admitted that its a hassle to put a cd anytime he wants to hear a song. I can see a bunch of old people getting into streaming sooner or later wich will cause a even bigger rise in old music streaming
The USA is also getting older on average so less impressionable teeny boppers.
However old people bought CDs prior to streaming. The statistic is about the entire music market, not just streaming. Old people switching to streaming might even harm the industry since they lose buyers. It might skew the ratio in favor of new music. Remember that 1 CD purchase is equivalent to 1500 streams. Therefore I don't think this argument holds too much weight - unless streaming re-invigotated the love of music in old people who previously were not avid CD buyers.
labels eating

With the pandemic, most are waiting for touring to be possible
I mean that’s where they make they bread so why drop an album to not make s*** off it?
This is good new imo. People are revisiting the classics. Streaming has made old music more accessible.
The new artists and new music is generally trash and has been getting worse and worse over the last 20 years.
People knew this already.

Music rebounded from the fist pump era tbh. Not saying today's music is good, just that the decline isn't such a straight line
