    Be talented.
Know how to sing and dance as well as MJ.
Make an album as good as Thriller.
Have an entire city stand outside your hotel room.

Time passes. If you polled people under 25 I bet it would already be the case. You don’t think a certain age group knows Shake It Off more than the Beatles hits?

When I was younger The Three Stooges were still a household name and every one even my age knew them by name. That’s not the case anymore. Same will happen to the Beatles eventually.

Getting into their music is still kind of a rite of passage for music nerds but in the world of casual listeners and young people, yes Shake It Off will stick around longer in the public consciousness. I know y’all think everything I say is a hot take but this is just kind of obvious. Think about what media will actually look like in 20 years.

You’re talking about a group from the 1960s who still is the biggest band of all time to this day and it’s been 50+ years since.

There is no outcome where Shake It Off is bigger than the biggest Beatles songs. Especially with how limited her demographic is compared to how The Beatles is and was.

These are her best examples of getting fresh

I am not searching through hundreds of millions of photographs for someone I don’t care about. Especially not someone who’s never been a style icon in any way; not even remotely thought about like one until Reputation era when she ripped off Beyoncé. I liked those two photos though.

I respect everyone itt saying that the streaming era records won’t make her bigger

But the general public literally judges how big artists from the 60s and 70s were by Spotify monthly listeners and stream counts. The casual listener literally thinks Spotify has always been the way to consume music and there’s nothing before or after. So they will give her the title because they don’t know better

That said, whenever she does decide to enter politics it could actually take her to a different space. She’s probably the first music artist to be seriously talked about as being president one day. And I predict it does happen

To be fair, Morgan Wallen is rarely considered a GOAT artist despite outselling everyone(except Taylor) this decade.

I’d say she’s already surpassed them

    I’d say never post again

Monoculture is close to dead nowadays

What MJ and The Beatles had going for them was lack of options and primitiveness of the music industry (once you look at it in 2024)

There is no outcome where Shake It Off is bigger than the biggest Beatles songs. Especially with how limited her demographic is compared to how The Beatles is and was.

So let’s say you have to get a 20 year old to recognize a song by humming the melody, and you win a million dollars if they get it right

Now you get to pick: Shake It Off or any Beatles song

    Which one you doing?

Her music itself is preventing her from being a megastar like MJ & The Beatles

She’s the female Elvis at best, she’s propped up as an American symbol meanwhile appealing to young adult/teenage girls with her formulaic music

20 years from now I’m definitely going with a Beatles song, not Shake It Off

Try that again in 50 years and see if she's as popular as the Beatles.
