Biggie was already one of the most iconic names in Hip-Hop history. The genre was still relatively new unlike R&B.
What about Tlc Then? They not legends?
Dude that’s what legendary means
You’re mixing your words
No. People consider MJ, Prince, etc HUGE legends before they died.
Aaliyah is someone who would've never been considered a legend at the time in 2001 by anyone whatsoever.

She’s a legend by definition
Brandy & Aaliyah didn't have longevity
Mariah/Mary/R. Kelly/Usher/etc have classics spanning 20~ years.
Brandy don't even got classics past the first 2 albums, and Aaliyah died way too early on before she got anywhere near legends discussion.
I think they're both moreso icons.
Does commercial longevity really matter when discussing legend status though?
I mean, Bobby Brown only had one true classic and another hit album and was done as a solo act, but his impact on rnb makes him a legend.
Brandy and Aaliyah both dropped 3 classics, and while they either didn't make it (Aaliyah) or their new music wasn't as impactful (Brandy) the music they made when they were on top are timeless classics that influenced the next generation of rnb artists. I think musical longevity should be a factor too.

Theres so many legends that arent MJ or Prince tier lol wtf

Depends who's writing them

Aaliyah was 22. She was still really young and hadn't truly PROVEN herself yet, she was just getting there.
That's like if Ariana Grande died or something.
"sorry ass list"
90s legends but no mention of Keith sweat, Johnny Gill, Ginuwine or Jodeci

If you’re adding Keith, you’re adding Janet...

New Edition was relevant for well over a decade alone.
Brandy literally doesn't have no type of classic or big remembered moment after her 2nd album. You are really pushing it considering her a legend lol.

Keith and Jodeci are far superior
Keith and Jodeci are far superior
My point is them debuting in the 80s should rule them out of this
Ginuwine is a good addition and sure Jodeci if we’re going for groups
Niggas preferring male rnb over woman rnb always be blowing minds
It depends who.
Usher is obviously better than Brandy/Aaliyah/Monica.
Beyonce wipes the floor with any male who debuted this century though.
Keith is responsible for helping birth at least 70 percent of ktt users
