This doesn’t look good. This doesn’t look good at all.

These actors seem to be honest and really passionate about this project. But everything else seems just tacky to me.

This is supposed to be a crazy universe with some complex lore. You need to make it seem real. Give it texture. I wanna see dust, sweat, blood. We’re talking about f***ing pirates. I wanna feel the weight of the waves crashing down as sea monsters emerge. It needs to look rough and dangerous.

But once again, Netflix gives us muddy color grading, s***ty weaves and mediocre CGI. This s*** is shot and edited like a cut scene from a video game. It looks ugly. It looks flat. It doesn’t feel unique. It lacks ambition.

For f***’s sake we’re talking about One Piece! You can’t adapt Oda’s masterpiece with such a lack of ambition. It’s a f***ing disgrace.

Oda is a huge Terry Gilliam fan. They should have taken inspiration from his movies. It’s an obvious choice.

Look I know it’s supposed to be a trailer. I know I’m supposed to watch the show to form a valid opinion. But holy f***, the more I watch this trailer the worse it gets…

And I know, I just know that the showrunners don’t understand One Piece. I know that they don’t see its communistic subtext. They think it appeals to their liberal sensibilities. They think Luffy is AOC and that Kamala Harris would be a D if she was a character in the manga. That’s probably the worst thing about this whole situation.

"Kamala Harris would be a D"

    This funny

  • Why the colors so washed out ? Characters look good tho

I hate how some One Piece YouTubers are gassing this just cause they were allowed on set and got to meet the cast.

Go try that “touch some grass” s*** on Discord, it’d probably work with some of your mentally challenged friends. People like you are fundamentally empty inside and are always perplexed whenever they encounter someone who cares deeply about something.

Don’t try to s*** on people who engage seriously with a work of art. People like you consume art just like they consume p***ography.

No no he’s right that AOC comparison was f***ing cringe like your brain just derailed when a***yzing a teaser

Mans expects Terry Gilliam influence in a Netflix product. One of the most unreplicated director imo when it comes to visual style. Hell they just gave Burton a budget and it barely reached into that pocket.

Approach the show realistically if you plan on watching. I feel like anime fans have enough reasons to not engage with these live action money grabs at this point.

you'd be surprised how many people, even massive fans, are blind to the messages and themes in one piece. he wasn't wrong at all about libs thinking it represents them

Yes. And your p*** brain for not understanding what he's saying.

Not only is One Piece communistic, it's also biblical. OP is not the "funny pirate show" 80% of fans think it is. It is a masterpiece with many layers. This is why I always say One Piece surpasses "Anime," which is entirely cringe.

I was with that rant post until he called One Piece “communist”. I’m a socialist, but a great thing about One Piece is that it’s politically incoherent. There’s elements of it that could appeal to a libertarian as much as an orthodox Marxist. It’s basic premise is authoritarianism bad and freedom good. It’s refreshing there’s a piece of art that isn’t filtered through such a narrow political framework. The worry that the writers of the Netflix show are just generic establishment liberal types is understandable, but I doubt they’ll inject much of that into it. The show won’t last long enough to get to the parts where that would be relevant.

I understand it but that doesn’t make it any less absurd lmao to expect any of that in a season 1 TRAILER of a live action adaptation of a kid’s show is the most ridiculous s*** I’ve ever heard. I can’t even begin to break down how much brain rot you have to suffer from to look at that trailer and go ‘these mf’s think luffy is AOC!’

If you can’t see that as nonsense then idk what to tell you.

also One Piece is a very left leaning story in a lot of ways, yes, but it’s also got political inconsistency in that you can find something to relate to in it no matter what political affiliation you hold. I’m a leftist, 100%, just look at some of my posts throughout the forum and you’ll see that.

But to look at this grand story and all of its elements and break it down to ‘muh left’ is f***ing brain rot bro what is wrong with y’all pls stop quoting me if all you have is glazing Hasanabi’s knob by repeating his talking points

100%. Basically what I was just saying in my last comment in here. Hasan is an illiterate moron and his reading of the manga/show is just a way of justifying his own brand. If he likes something then he forces it to conform to his political sensibilities.

Luffy is a Stalinist and all you see is "authoritarianism bad."

    Pathetic

YOU are the one who views Luffy as AOC You disagree because you're the same as the writers whos being subjected to this critique

I can also tell you and the other guy are idiots because you mention Hasan at all. No one here thought about him much less mentioned him but you guys.
