I’ve been caught up with the manga for many years now but getting to refresh my memory of the massive Wano arc through the anime is really nice. Yeah the pacing is really slow and there’s some filler-ish stuff but the animation this arc is so good now that it’s worth it. I really wish the previous major arcs had this level of quality in the art department. Whole Cake was one of my favorite manga arcs but the anime version isn’t so good. Only way to view that which is worth it is the One Pace fan edit of it but even that doesn’t fix the mediocre animation.

    Wano Act 2 done

This might be my last big post. I have about 50 episodes left to catch up to the anime, so I'll probably catch up in 2-3 weeks. Then I'll pick up the manga and read from where the most recent episode is and catch up with the manga. I know Act 3 has been going on for a while so by the time I catch up the act might be over. If it is over, then I don't see the point in writing a post like this for something that current and if it's not then I also don't see why I'd write something for a part that isn't over. Maybe I'll do two smaller posts, one for when I catch up to the anime and one for when I catch up to the manga, idk. Anyway thanks for putting up with my long ass posts every few weeks 🤝

Definitely a slower paced act, but I still enjoyed it. Lots of world building and lore about Wano and its people, great character moments and important set up for Act 3.
    So Moria is still alive

F***ing Caribou He has one of the creepiest character designs in the entire series. That long ass tongue and his eyes always weird me out. Oda definitely has big plans for him cause Caribou knows that Shirahoshi is one of the ancient weapons and I don't think Oda would bring him back in this moment where the crew is about to go up against TWO emperors if he wasn't planning on doing something big with him.

I love the little peaks we get into the underground, seedy politics of the world. CP0 doesn't want Wano to open up either and apparently Orochi is in a position where he can demand warships and even Vegapunk?

I did not expect Komurasaki/Hiyori to be Momo's sister. During a flashback to when Momo's mom sent them into the future you could see Momo's sister had green hair, so the surprise was a little ruined but I guess it could have been easily missed if you weren't looking for it. Her reveal as the thieving oiran was still great though.

Kid lost his arm while fighting Shanks I need to see that

Big Mom and Kaido were crewmates at one point?

Sanji's raid suit It was hilarious how Law, Basil and Drake are all from the North Blue so they grew up reading the Germa 66 comic and know more about the suit than Sanji and were fanboying

I did not think Big Mom was going to show up this early into Wano. Her losing her memory for a bit was a nice twist since we just spent an entire arc with her so this way she didn't immediately become a threat again. But the fact that she and Kaid formed an alliance

    Brook found another poneglyph :pog:

Zoro vs Kamazo What a crazy fight. When Zoro lets himself get stabbed with the scythe so and he can pull it out of his own shoulder to get a third weapon

Tonoyasu/Yasuie was a really fun character. I expected him to be an enemy not an ally. I wish we got to spend more time with him. The scene where Toko was crying with laughter while saying "My daddy's dead"

The truth about the SMILE fruits I was right! They only give people the power of animals. Also those mf are 10% effective No wonder in Dressrossa they making a s*** ton of them, they hardly f***ing work I guess that fits Caesar pretty well though. It's some cruel irony that they're called SMILE fruits because 90% of the people who eat them lose their ability to express any emotion other than laughter. Then you got Orochi purposefully giving them to the poor to stop their complaining. Really f***ed up.

Kamazo's reveal as Killer was crazy. Oda gave him two amazing character designs.

Luffy ripping the collars off of him and Hyogoro

Kawamatsu Easily my favorite character introduced this part. A fishman samurai, so dope and I really like his relationship with Hiyori. Plus his character design is so cool even though it's really simple.

Kiku is trans Props to Oda for adding in another badass trans character. I don't imagine Oda will go too much into the discussion of her gender but it's still cool to see that he's willing to do that especially with a samurai character.

Comrade Luffy rallying the workers to break free of their chains in Udon

Kawamatsu backstory with Onimaru was beautiful. I liked learning about the culture of Ringo and how the people were given swords at birth that they kept through their entire lives and were eventually buried with. And then seeing that Onimaru was both the fox that continued to collect the swords after Kawamatsu was arrested and the guy on bandits bridge protecting them was just so poetic in a way. It was short but Oda really nailed that one.

    Zoro's new sword

Was that Drake ( ) that just let Law walk out of the jail cell after he chopped up Basil? Tf? Why?

Luffy's haki has been upgraded once again

Unfortunately I've had who the spy is that's giving Orochi information spoiled for me (or at least I think I did) but I don't really know the extent of it or any details. I don't think it's that big of a deal but I gotta stop googling things

    Act 3 next

I wasn't planning on writing anything for a while but I just got through the Oden and Roger flashback part of Act 3, holy s***

    What happened to Sabo?

Drake is the leader of a Navy special force and Koby works under him, wtf.

    The warlord system is abolished

What a testament it is to Oda's writing ability that he's able to completely remove the main cast of characters, focus on characters we've only just met or only heard about and tell one of the best stories in the series. How does it keep getting better and better?

The Rocks Pirates sound so f***ing cool, I hope we get to see them in their prime at some point. If Rocks was leading a group with Kaido, Big Mom and Whitebeard in it, I can't even begin to imagine how strong he was and Rocks also had a D name

Why was God Valley removed from the maps? What could Roger and Garp have done besides defeating a bunch of Rocks Pirates that the Navy would need to hide its location?

We finally get to see Roger in action He's just as much of badass as he was made out to be. When he sent Oden through all those trees with a 1 handed swing of his sword

Oden What an amazing character man. Just absolutely stole nearly every scene he was in. He reminded me so much of Luffy with his complete disinterest in the rules and societal norms and his thirst for adventure and freedom. I loved seeing the way he grew and matured. When his father told him that he's become a great man and he responded "I've been made great"

It was so cool seeing how Oden basically assembled his samurai by accident while traveling around Wano.

Also we got more time with Whitebeard and his young crew It's great getting to see more of him cause we had only really just met him before he died in Marineford. I liked that he recognized Oden was meant to lead and that's why he didn't allow him to become part of his crew initially. But then after Oden holds onto to a chain attached to their ship for 3 days and only lets go to defend the woman who later become his wife, Whitebeard accepts him.

Orochi is such a piece of s***. The backstory of his clan is unfortunate but he's such a little rat. The dude is just a puppet being played by everyone for their own gain. I can't wait to see Zoro slice him in half.

I did really like seeing that the old lady and old man who advised Orochi both had fruits we've already seen, Bon Clay's clone clone fruit and Bartolomeo's barrier barrier fruit. It's so interesting to see how those fruits were used by people in the past. It shows that at some point someone else had Luffy's fruit, Robin's fruit and even Chopper's fruit, which just adds so many more layers to world.

A young Blackbeard begging Whitebeard to be part of his crew

    Roger vs Whitebeard

I knew Oden was part of Roger's journey but I didn't think it would be as simple as Roger asking Whitebeard to let him borrow Oden.

It was so heartwarming and fun to watch the Roger Pirates visit Skypiea, Jaya, Sabaody, Zou. Fishman Island and Water 7 all while singing Bink's Sake

Who the hell is Joyboy? And what's so funny about the story he left at Laugh Tale?

Buggy, Shanks, Smoker, Doflamingo, Moria, Crocodile, Mihawk and Dragon were all present for Roger’s execution

Oden cutting through Kaido and that whole fight scene between them and he had conquerors haki

"Oden wouldn't be Oden if it wasn't boiled" RIP King. Oden sacrificed so much for his people and they didn't even know until it was too late.

How did Oden know that it would take 20 years for someone to show up who could beat Kaido? I'm assuming it has to do with Laugh Tale and what the sea kings said while they were going to Fishman Island.

Denjiro is Kyoshiro This is one of the wildest twists in the series for me. I would have never guessed that in a hundred years. I know he helped Hyori escape and pretended to kill her but I figured it was for a different reason, not that he was one of the Kozuki samurai, especially since he's working for Orochi. Insane.

I'm so close to being fully caught up

What about the twist of Kanjuro being the spy for Orochi this whole time? 👀
And knowing Oden’s backstory makes earlier moments in the series hit way way harder. Like when Kinemon appeared in front of the minks in Zou and seeing the tears in the face of dog-sama and cat-sama(forgot their names atm) because they’ve been awaiting that day for TWENTY years
