Very very special ep that has been building up ever since Law laid out the plan in PH back in 2012.

Even more special for me since I caught up at the ch when Kinemon made the distress call before the crew made landfall. Seeing Kinemon like that had me teary eyed. The punch has so much emotional weight when you’ve been in the trenches watching week by week.

When I went to rewatch the end of the episode last night I actually went to the end of episode one where Coby was thinking about what Luffy said about dying in pursuit of his dream right before he told Alvida off and for a second I thought it was 1015 because it fit so perfectly

Kinemon should’ve died but you know.

Hope everyone’s healthy and well, especially Oda

Imagine how much powerful that moment would’ve been if he died man especially after Kaido’s speech about death both times Kinemon resisted death. Imagine the tone if instead of losing just an arm Kiku was just cut down at that moment.

I think Oda has a purpose this arc for them still though, and that’ll be when they go hopefully.

Also man its rare that the anime is better than the manga but this episode was on another level

Oda weakling needs to kill off characters

Act 3 is supposed to end in a tragedy, so I wouldn't be surprised if he or the other scabbards actually die at some point

Ruins the payoff , moments are less impactful when you get faked out consistently

I just think in an "all out war" as Luffy put it vs the strongest living creature there should be deaths. Kinemon got f***ed up by Kaido and it would show the risks of going against a yonkou plus add some motivation to the alliance side and it'd be a good emotional moment then and after the arc.

Going to war vs an Emperor should result in losing men either way. Oda has to show why they are the impenetrable forces they've been for so long.

Also, for an actual good adaptation the anime should be better than the manga it's just that the anime has been garbage for so long we're surprised when it is. Anime has a lot more tools to show the different emotions and story, if done right it should always be better.
