Probably the first One Piece arc I’ve been truly disappointed with. Just clunky and messy all the way through. There’s some really high highs but some of the lowest lows in the series. If Yamato doesn’t ultimately have a character arc and still ends up joining the crew (they shouldn’t regardless, that will just make it worse) then this is one of the worst arcs hands down. Somehow it’s simultaneously overly bloated and rushed. Stupid retcons, too many characters and dynamics to keep track of, not enough time dedicated to the central villain, and some of Oda’s most busy panel work. I really hope this break does him well, he needs it.

1053 The reason for Buggy being an Emperor is simply cuz of clout and influence. The only reason BB became one wasn’t after he killed WB but when he took his territories. Buggy probably got several territories and got to the bag resulting in an empire. He probably negotiated a deal with the WG after they couldn’t with Orochi
