maybe i’m generalizing and speaking from my experience growing up in the mid-late 2000s, but One Piece was not hitting like that for any kid my age…yeah you’d see merch and s*** at FYE or whatever, but on some mainstream level i’m assuming they just didnt know how to market it at the time in the USA we were too busy rockin headbands and plastic kunais/shurikens from walmart

Yeah the 4kids dub ruined a lot cause it kinda just ended after a certain point. Personally I remember liking the dub back then cause it was my introduction to OP but I definitely didn't get back into the show until my late teens. Naruto/Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh was running s*** in the mainstream
