Serious lack of OME threads on here.. he one of my favorite rappers and such a dope artist
he's releasing his newest album this friday "Another Triumph of Ghetto Engineering"
any OME fans on KTT?
Intro on Dark Comedy is one of my favourite songs of all time. OME’s DOOM tribute was the last thing I checked out from him but I’ll check out the album for sure
my guyy!
U been on him way before I did, i'm relistening to all his albums leading up to his new one on friday, doing Dark Comedy rn cuz of you
It's such a quintessential OME project, feels like that's his baseline.
I got put on to him when his song '95 Radios' came up in a playlist and instantly fell in LOVE with Brick Body Kids (that's his masterpiece in my opinion, such an ethereal vibe, nostalgic and the raps are so different)
every project of his I keep around 5 songs
what are your favs on Dark Comedy
BBKSD a classic
I can agree with this
it's his most polished most focused album
kind of like Dark Comedy but with a clearer vision and more experienced raps/structure

that instrumental is so layered and amazing
the fricken vocals periodically coming in
his slow relaxed rapping at first is so cool and then he slowly gains momentum throughout the track
forgot how good this song was, easily one of OME's best
Yep, looking forward to the new one.
I'm excited to see what direction he heads in with this one the artwork is interesting (and kinda ugly) but i'm sure there's a reason
its interesting because I love Dark Comedy but those tracks are not the ones that stick for me..
Thirst Ego Raps: has one of those annoying OME beats where it sounds almost like random sounds, also it feels like kind of a aimless track but that chorus is good though and his raps are ofcourse always good, but nothing too witty or comedic or dope that sticks out to me
Penance Raps: is more the OME that I love. I love this song, it's short and sounds like a stream of consciousness for me but its what MAKES it. Better than thirsty ego raps though and lmao the way it cuts out at the end and he's pissed about it lmaoooo
from Dark Comedy I kept:
Dark Comedy Morning Show (goat intro)
Qualifiers
Very Much Money (best song off of Dark Comedy & heart of the tracklist)
Doug Stamper
Idaho
Penance Raps
Big Pretty Bridges
me too I wonder what it was like, like a sketch comedy show?
ima hit u back up on this thread after listening to his new project on friday to tell you what I think..
Been meaning to get into him for years
What’s his best tape?
100% it's "Brick Body Kids Still Daydream"
lmk what u think after you peep it brodi
super dope
since that time he put me to sleep when I first heard him I knew I'm not gonna be head over heels about him. and tru I never got to like him much since then, although he has at least one amazing album and a bunch of great music all the way through. plus hes very active outside of music which I respect
problem is, and this is just my general feeling, that I for the life of me I cant name a single bar or quotable or memorable verse from him. he can rap but its crazy how he never ever ever caught me with such a massive body of work. Quelle Chris sounds a lot like him and hes amazing and hilarious and talented and I can quote a bunch of stuff from him. not so much for OME
Been on repeat this whole weekend since it came out. I already pulled out the 4 tracks ima keep (just like any OME album I always just end up really liking 4/5 songs. consistent as f***)
The first song is very eagle-esque but the beat didn't really do it for me..his delivery was more interesting but didn't feel it engaged too much
BET's Rap City has a more interesting ear-wormy beat for me..the chorus is so catchy and fun to say and the "la la la laaaaa" during the verses is so cool. Mike starts spazzing and then goes back to a calm ass "1-2 yea" lmao (kept this one)

That's interesting I wonder what it is that engages some and not others.. cuz I def can remember some memorable lines even from this album alone..that Anya Taylor Joy line made me chuckle and just his delivery with a bunch of other songs, esp when the songs are more personal.
Ima check out Quelle Chris since you said they similar. any projects specifically?
also you said OME has one amazing album, what do you think it is

for Quelle Chris definitely check out Being You Is Great..., it's one of the best albums of the last decade (for me on par with TPAB tbh) and I actually made a thread about it at some point here. Other great albums from him are Everything's Fine and Guns
OME's one great album is of course Brick Body Kids, although I liked Component System too. his earlier albums are good musically but literally nothing to keep me there
