Violence is needed, peaceful protests will be brushed away

  • Jun 1, 2020

Peaceful protest isn't effective but at the same time there's people taking advantage of the situation who aren't doing it for the cause.

  • Jun 1, 2020

S*** isnt gonna change unless whats happening right now keeps happening

  • it really hurts seeing small businesses being looted, but it's a necessary cost to spread the message

What message tho. Whole lotta losers and posers tryna freeride on a message that has true meaning for personal gain. What's Tyler from Plano know about living on $13000 a year, if he blows up Dallas he can just go back to his suburb and talk about how it's necessary on Twitter?

You're destroying black low income communities that DON'T have the insurance to come back like Target or Walmart. Ruining people's jobs.

Y'all gonna pay for those families you destroy? S*** I steal from Walmart every day I do not give a s***.

A predictable and sometimes very useful form of protest but has very real consequences for working class minorities i.e.

A business owner =\= working class. The def. of working class is those who don’t the means of production, but produce capital for owners of firm.

    Stop bootlicking

    Bootlickers all over the thread

I actually saw this lady get interviewed on the news last night at the protest here. She said "I'm going from city to city to spread awareness and show why no more police brutality..." or something like that. But the city to city part bothered me. Why not stay in your city or the city besides yours (like a Raleigh-Durham or Norfolk-VA Beach situation) and protest there? She could have been here for the better OR for the worse and it just didn't sit right with me.

I'm not against the riots. They're needed. I just wish they were more organized. This generation has no actual established leaders or group to guide them, it's all celebrities.

Exactly, it just feels like there’s people out there treating this like a event that is for their own entertainment. I saw people in West Phil. Yesterday that def weren’t from there and they were the ones starting s*** to an area that It’s gonna be hard to bounce back since there’s not a lot of funding here. Its just sad. I respect The rioting going on in the downtowns of cities since it’s mostly corporations

Me too. I'm okay with a lot of the downtown rioting. A lot of small businesses are suffering and there's probably some black owned businesses out there too, but the big corporations could help out and here there were a lot of people in the community helping them board up windows before night time, when the rioting really starts. I just wish we didn't HAVE to get so violent. We might not, but it just feels like all the protests are peaceful for like 2 hours then something happens, and all hell breaks loose. In some cases it's the police aggravating the crowd, some cases random rioters start riots, and other some protestors get out of hand, but at some points it doesn't eve feel like protests after a while Just straight up riots

  • well ill tell you what doesnt work either, not doing anything/peaceful protest

  • Jun 1, 2020

It's about looting and destroying the right things

Lmao okay but there’s a big difference between being the owner of a bar and owning a national retail chain. And what about the people this man employs? Or those that work at one of the number of stores that no longer exist?

Don’t act like there aren’t consequences for people who will struggle greatly after this. That said I think the ‘larger’ struggle is a net good so riots are fine with me. Still, you can sympathize with those folks and not be a ‘bootlicker’.

I keep thinking, do people go to get tested after protesting? or get risky and accidently spread it while being asymptomatic and not know?
