I don’t even think Jamie was even on screen in her movie as much as Angela was in hers. I don’t even know why she was nominated let alone won and again, I love Everywhere but this makes no sense whatsoever other than the usual evidence of “white” people doing “white” people things
There’s an actual “agenda” against rewarding Marvel movies bro. That’s not to say marvel movies should be getting more noms or whatever bc I don’t think they should
But the nom itself was them both compromising as much as they’ve ever had and rewarding her for how incredible her performance was, like you said. But simply put, they would rather blow the whole s*** up than give a Marvel movie that tidbit/side note.
It’s one of the main problems with the Academy, but unfortunately the camp that you’re surrounded with matters more than anything. Curtis doesn’t even get that nom if Everything Everywhere was just as good, but didn’t have the cultural and niche milestone success it did. Basset’s camp inherently worked against her
