I don’t get why they are adapted screenplays just because they are doing an IP. If it’s a completely new story (not adapting a book or comic) it’s an original screenplay

They also do this with sequels. Like Toy Story 3 was considered an adapted screenplay although it wasn’t based on anything and a completely new story
