Both those movies have parts that I find to be very hard to connect to emotionally. The Irishman’s first act and Oppenheimer’s third act.

I mean Irishman is supposed to be that way. The emotional punch hits you in the 3rd act which is one of the most depressing in cinema imo.

I understand, but until that time we just get a boilerplate Scorsese gangster drama. The subversion doesn’t make up for that.
