And I don't hate Oppie at all. I thinks it's a wonderful melodrama. But Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of The Flower Moon, and Zone of Interest are easily better films. By a long shot.
only KOTFM rank up to Oppenheimer im sorry. Anatomy of a Fall and Zone of Interest are great films but KOTFM and Oppenheimer are on different levels.
Hella overrated, especially after this sweep
And yet flower moon gets zero wins
These oscar niggas are TRASH
flower moon was trash
oppenheimer deserved more wins
I’m still mad The Lighthouse didn’t get s*** so they can kick rocks no matter who wins

A24 sucks at promoting their movies. Iron claw should’ve been up for awards too

barbenheimer hype is the only reason opp one. Solid 7/10 but cmon.
KOTF was leaps and bounds better and more entertaining. Absolutely insane Lily didn’t at the very least win best actress.

Respectfully disagree.
The craft of the movie was Nolans best but I just can't help to think I'm just watching a MOVIE when I'm watching it. Nothing incredibly interesting. It’s more interesting as a one time watching experience imo. I’ve exhausted my critique on the film but I stand by it being overrated and not the best out of the films that came out last year

Oppenheimer is a 10/10 and I doubt we get a better film this decade. Incredible on a technical level but also writing wise, it presents a nuanced take on the American system and Oppenheimer as a person. Barbenheimer is certainly the reason it made nearly a billli, but it being an incredible movie is the reason it won the Oscars.
KOTFM is overlong, presents all its natives as surface level victims, defines its white characters are imbeciles who seriously utter lines like "I like money", and has nothing of significance to say about its historical context beyond "white people bad"
Zone of Interest winning sound is literally one of the most laughable wins of all time. What an absolute horseshit film for one, but also the fact we award sound design for making a minimalist spectacle out of getting to "subtly" hear jewish anguish as the background music is perhaps indicative of the fake and virtue signaling ass generation of today.

stupidest read of that movie i've ever seen and i didn't even like it

It was an adaptation of a book and extremely faithful to it at that. Yes the white characters were a lot more evil and conniving in the book but that didn’t need to be shown. It was already a depressing movie. It was a lot easier to digest on film having the white characters look dumber than they were.

But it wasn't though. The entire book was upended for a perspective shift onto the criminals and the natives. But they don't give the natives any added dimension as a people nor individually. They are all surface level victims that are par for the course for these oscarbait white guilt moives. The film would've worked better had it been from the perspective of the FBI because the decision to take these 1 dimensional characters and focus on them for 3.5 hours was grueling.
Nolan’s recent movies are all flawed in similar ways but more than make up for it in execution, so glad I’m not too pretentious to enjoy movies like Oppenheimer or Interstellar just because of awkward writing

True, that seemed made for a good award season run. They move weird over there

Just because people don’t like it the same way everyone else likes doesn’t mean people are pretentious for not liking it lol

Have you ever watched a Scorsese film? Lol

It’s not necessarily pretentious, it’s just that every time I read a long review about why interstellar is actually bad bc of plot choices or dialogue, or Oppenheimer is bad for whatever reason, I’m glad I’m able to look past whatever flaws his movies have and enjoy it for what they are. Which it seems like some people just can’t do
Have you ever watched a Scorsese film? Lol
Yes, he's literally my favorite filmmaker of all time. He normally crafts far better characters. He has always had pointedly "good" or "bad" characters but there is always more shades to it underneath that. With KOTFM, he has crafted his most surface level characterization yet. Whereas you can watch a film like Silence or Kundun which both do a far superior job at humanizing the minorities.
I would say that this is the strongest the show's been in a long time
just wish we had a host that actually likes movies

Missed the opening monologue last night and watched it back today the RDJ s*** was so vile. Now that I think about it I can't remember the last time one of these awards shows had a host that wasn't insanely cringe/off-putting
Like they all want to do the poking at the audience + self-deprecation thing and I think it's so played out lol
Schumer last year
Random ass dude who did the Emmy's this year
Just introduce the categories and get off stage man
