Every generation before us had some vibrant impressive or at least underground art movement that shaped music. We don’t have that. There are a few good upcoming artists but nothing to be called. Music reflects art but there’s no art. So we imitate entertainment which can hold no true artistic value or meaning. It’s strange to see in real time. Many of you will complain and say I’m wrong but you don’t know any better.
Will we literally be the blank generation?

Damn cookies this one of the realest things I've seen on this site

Nah,the internet just opened the forbidden door of the music industry and made becoming a music artist easier. You use to have to network till you finally met someone to put you on and then your music had to impress their taste. Now kids from all over are the judges and a lot of them have no real taste beyond internet trends so we end up where we are now.

that's kind of why I feel like any artist has to be a master clown to get big.

My favorite example of an art movement that is contemporary with music

One more thing that’s killing music right now imo is new artist dropping debut albums with no hype or urgency, just dropping em. Like your debut is suppose to be your statement piece to the world not just a bunch of random. Are you a hit maker, lyricist, avant garde, storyteller etc,who are you?

I think OP is speaking more about the direction of the culture the later half of the 2010s. It’s been said on here multiple times but 2010-2013was a sweet spot. 2014 was a glimpse at how rough things could be and now it’s starting to feel like a consistent 2014 of disappointment

I mean theres internet now and so many things going on at the same time that the ”direction” isn’t really 1 way.

We still have skating & hypebeast culture which in itself is huge. Travis Scott’s shoes sell out as soon as they come out. We have a bunch of photographers and filmmakers on ig etc. Not to mention the memes

The thing is that there isn’t too many artists that actuallY tap into that culture. Thats why Future wants money for the memes. He has no idea how s*** actually works on the internet.

Travis, Carti, Uzi, Ian, Kanye & Rocky tap into that skating culture & hypebeast market

    This is bullshit lol

No generation nor genre ever embraced art as much as this generation and hip-hop

There are so many art movements that youre simply taking them for granted and ignoring them

From fashion and dancing to memes and music and autotune and whatever else

    THIS IS FACTS.
