how do you define who is "truly entrenched in the culture"?

Its easy to look at youtube comments and be like "yeah these are the ONLY people who praise Eminem" but Eminem had a massive appeal among the black community as well. Theres a reason people like Lebron James or other black celebrities who came from similar means along that age group hold Eminem in such a high regard.

Most people who were in their teens witnessing that era would probably tell you the two GOATs are Eminem and Wayne.

Why would I trust the opinions of a teenager tho?

I'm just saying, I was outside the whole time Em was doing his thing. He got respect but he wasnt dominating s*** but MTV airtime.

Where do y’all actually rate Drake in history ? In your own opinion . As an artist and a rapper . He is obviously one of the greats . Amazing the rap group is he top 20 . In artist is he top 50 ?

The greatest, part of it is I lived in his era, the other part is he’s doing unbelievable, never before seen things in the most talented/most populated music era. His versatility is unmatched. 🐐

    Top 10

That’s high from me considering I don’t rate his music after Views

Maybe top 50 although I don’t feel like he has an out and out classic album. Multiple classic songs though

By that though I mean as an artist not a lyricist. He’s not a top 50 lyricist

ehhh I came up in the era of Eminem (I was in middle school/hs when MMLP and Eminem show dropped) and at that time rap belonged to Jay-Z/rocafella, Nas, and Ruffyders (X and the Lox) for the most part. We listened to Eminem and everybody knew he wasn't to be f***ed with in terms of skill but I don't think he was considered better than Jay or Nas in the black community tho. At least on the east coast. S*** was a lot more regional then tho. I can say after Eminem show it was a dub for Eminem lol. I consider him a top ten goat for sure. I rank Drake ahead of him tho. And I defiantly think Drake has been more dominant.

The problem with this thread is the same problem with all rap goat conversations. Its not specific enough. People are on here talking about "top lyricist" like lyrical skill isn't completely subjective lol. Now if we talking goat rappers as far as career is concerned and we base that on stats (hits, classics, longevity, impact) you would be hard pressed to name 5 rappers with a better resume than Drake, let alone 50

Agreed. Career wise drake maybe top 3 if sales and longevity are the main factors. Lyrically he’s nowhere near for me. I do enjoy his music a lot though

He's in my top 2 tbh. Eminem/Jay tied at 1, then Kanye/Drake Tied at 2.

Among living legends, I put Ye, Drake, Nas, Hov, Wayne in terms of talent/ability/craftsmanship/dedication and overall influence on the game. Drake has been Hov, Wayne and Yeezy at different moments in his career. They all have their own identity. Drake's identity is that of making hits consistently. Not heavy on substance or artistic creativity like Ye. I get it, Drake ain't eccentric like ye, - he's very practical. He's bout getting his bag and I respect that.

I'm glad Drake's been thriving for as long as he has, but the fact that he still doesn't have a undebatable classic album still bums me out.

What makes Drake special is his influence, the way he kicking doors and being in and out of genres

It’s hard to put him over Nas for example, but then again it’s hard not to have him in that echelon

Agreed, and while he’s not my favourite artist, I generally really enjoy a lot of his music, he deserves his spot
