So rewarding tbh
Felt like a puzzle being put together
Great movie and extremely well made
Wasn't really "scary" but definitely held the creepy vibe throughout which I loved
Was absolutely zooted and I was locked in. Had to step out for 5 mins for a call so that alone is warranting a rewatch this coming week
99% of the s*** in the past is s*** too. people just dont watch those
not this guy tho he def watches those
nah, we used to have a ton of amazing films a year in the 40s/50s/60s/70s/80s/90s. That numbers dropped off quite hard since then.
Nowadays, we don't even get a great film most years.
Nah, he's pretty good. In a Valley of Violence rocks. House of the Devil is cool. Pearl is special. Making movies is hard
All awful. And idc if making movies is hard. A lot of things in life are hard to do. Medicine is hard but a doctor would still get absolutely dragged if he did a s*** job. These mfs spent their whole life doing this and they have a whole history of seeing genius directors innovate and inspire and should be able to pull from that and innovate and inspire themselves. Ti West just copies from the past and does nothing new with it. If anything, he waters it down even more so that todays sensitive ass audience can stomach it. He's a hack.
Did this guy just equate being a doctor, which involves science which is objective, to being a filmmaker which is part of art which is subjective?

boo hoo, b****

Pearl & X were both nice

How do you feel about Tarantino
How do you feel about Tarantino
He's great. Yes, he essentially is homaging old cinema all the time but he's doing it to create his own genre. It makes sense he's trying to get out of this industry cuz he knows how s*** its become.
X/Pearl/Maxxxine all play out like p**** versions of their respective past eras of horror filmmaking. I'd rather watch a 2000s slasher over X. And I'd rather watch a De Palma film over Maxxxine.

It's very hard to really innovate and come up with something in original when everything has basically been done already. Film has been around for like 100 years.

Tell that to Spielberg, De Palma, Malick, Michael Mann, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Nolan, Tarantino. They were all operating off decades and decades of cinema and still innovated. It's not hard to come up with something original if you've studied the form your whole life. The reality is that filmmaking is now a producer endeavor, not an artistic one. The objective is to make money, not to make art. These new guys are project managers, not artists.

Lmao, yeah, convo over
I haven’t read any of what the conversation is about but I’m gonna insert myself anyway.
I watched Ti on that Variety video s*** and I can tell bro ain’t got it. I did enjoy Pearl, X to a lesser extent
Check the date of the tweet
If that tweet was real, it’d be a pretty great encapsulation of the movie’s larger point tbh
He sucks
Wasn't a taste question. More of an "are you consistent in your criticisms" question. He was not. Prob thinks new movies are woke
