the whole copycat critique is so played out
99% of copycat games are flops. this being in the 1% that sees success don't mean anything for the future of the industry because people been copying for years in this very industry.
furthermore entire genres been birthed off people copying an originator. soulslikes, metroidvanias, botw like, all the vampire survivors types, etc the list goes on and on.
you actually gotta have something good going on to stand out at the end of the day. palworld being a flavor of the month or actually having legs to stand on remains to be seen.
