    THANOS

not a parent, but i have 3 nieces and nephew all under 5 y/o and i’m a huge part of their lives

as someone that grew up being beaten (it’s not ‘discipline’ it’s child abuse - i got hit with a rolling pin once. nothing a 5 year old does warrants being hit with a rolling pin) i would never condone physical discipline with kids. there are better ways. miss me with the “spare the rod spoil the child” s***

real for that clarification. i think ppl need to hear it more often. hitting a child is child abuse, no way around it. miss me with all that fake ass discipline s***

Does taking things away and sending them to their room not work?

Spanking is only one form of positive punishment, but there are also other things like labor, extra chores, etc

What is the most effective method of punishment?

i believe positive punishment is more effective in the short term than negative punishment (don't quote me) but ultimately positive reinforcement is the best way to condition behavior i believe

That’s called negative punishment and seems to be less effective

The best way to discipline is to develop a strong enough attachment to your kids to the extent that they mostly value your rules/boundaries and want to mimic you rather than outside influences.
