@Asaki i went dummy on the MTX’s this League smH
lemme see some of those sets
Ok so I’m finally gonna get started on this. Been looking up various builds, particularly minion builds. I wanted to do like a Slayer Summoner type thing but Ngl the videos I saw were kinda complicated. I’m just gonna go the simple route and start as a witch into necromancer.
One thing though about this game, and it’s one of my problems with D3. It’s kinda mindless. Like a big gripe with D3 I have is the lack of skill it actually takes, since everything is so gear dependent. It doesn’t feel like a dungeon crawler at all. You just gear up and steam roll everything.
Does POE change that up a little bit? Like I want a dungeon crawler feel. Where I don’t just have to spam 1 skill to clear the screen. I understand like max level gear n builds etc will steam roll things without much thought, but aside from min/maxing is there any skill involved in the game?
the thing with the genre of ARPGs is that they require virtually no mechanical skill. it's not like DotA 2 or Hades where you're constantly at 150APM and trying to do some sick outplays. the vast majority of skill in PoE is very intelligence-based: game knowledge, application of that knowledge, and being able to think your way through holes in your build.
now, D3 is especially mindless because the entire game is pretty mindless. you don't have to think about getting gear because the game just rains it on you, ALL you're doing is greater rift after greater rift, and the game just kinda becomes a cookie clicker game even at the lowest level of endgame because there's no real bosses.
in PoE, you'll have a very big variety of content to engage in, and it's also a challenge just to get your build together. unlike D3, gearing in PoE requires foresight, thinking, and game knowledge (100x the case if you're playing SSF). the endgame bosses will also require you to know their mechanics in the most part, otherwise you will probably get dumpstered.
you're also going summoner, which doesn't help much. summoners are super strong, but they're also pretty autonomous in most cases. there definitely are some builds where you have to click multiple buttons to get optimal DPS (warcry slams, Essence Drain/Contagion, etc.,) but the majority of builds in PoE are one main skill with some utility stuff. this is gonna change a lot in PoE 2 though.
im mostly a hack n slash type of gamer so poe was hard for me to get into
what does this mean
what does this mean
d3 is more of a h&s game than an arpg, and i prefer how it handled it, poe isn't like that

Summoners are probably the least interesting builds mechanically wise, however their building process is very interesting/you can go multiple routes. My main build this league is SRS (Summon Raging Spirits) and I had 6 skills to cast permanently (not even counting potions), so it had pretty great APM nothing really impressing though if you're compaying with other game styles like RTS, some MOBAs, etc. but again that's not really the appeal of the game.

just got done leveling a new char after a big hiatus from the game only 10 challenges done
gotta catch up with only like 7ex
just made a BiS belt for my champion only thing that could be improved is if the base was a stygian vise, but that s*** was impossible to find for a decent price. only took ~4ex to make from scratch.

can't even imagine crafting on a wand or weapon base tbh. s*** sounds so chaotic, even with harvest
this the set i've been rocking with this char
yooo this is so damn clean. I love the matching colors, and that helmet is
this is what I'm rocking with rn
Yo so I’m starting out, but idk what is wrong with my graphic settings s*** looks like I’m playing on a 3DS how do I fix this
Edit: got it fixed. Running it on my laptop and apparently they always default it to run through the integrated graphics card
Do majority of y’all do League characters?
yep, almost everyone plays the new league. the standard economy is stale and controlled by the super wealthy players, so it's not recommended for really anyone.
