ppl was s***ting on licorice pizza so egregiously hard that by the time i finally got around to seeing it (many months after it came out) -- i actually liked it.

I like it as well but when it came out I saw the opposite, people saying it was the best film of the year and even one of PTA’s best films. But nah it didn't hit for me like that. It’s a 7/10 to me, that’s why I say disappointing rather then bad

Alejandro Inarritu, Damien Chizelle, Noah Baumbach, Ari Aster all had back to back increased budgets on their last movies and fumbled to different degrees (I like all their last movies to different degrees tbh)

Robert Eggers did it well imo despite the movie not doing great and him having issues working with the studio I think Northman was great

You could say in terms of creativity, Eggers held back but his film was well received by critics

For sure. And he didn’t get put in director jail because Nosferatu is with an even bigger studio. I just hope he doesn’t look back on Northman and see it as a miss or a compromise because he did great work on it
