this was the plot leak going round, apparently based on the book Vineland. but then the new info today of it being set in contemporary times may dispute that info? but heres what came out a few months ago. had the casting right so theres something real here
It will be about a young girl of Mixed Ethnicity, Junior High/Freshman Student who is physically athletic and excels at Martial Arts. Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to play her mentor
Regina Hall is attached to play DL CHASTAIN, a martial arts expert and ninja. She is the daughter of a military family that moves around the world. While in Japan, she is approached by a martial arts instructor who teaches her the secret ways of the ninja, including how to kill with a touch that takes a year to work.
She is recruited by mobster Ralph Wayvone to assassinate Brock Vond while posing as a prostitute, but accidentally gives the death touch to Takeshi Fumimota, who has been sent in Vond's place after the plot was discovered.
sounds like a fake shlocky movie like it doesn't sound like anything
which makes me excited to see how it comes together

humeydude I watched mystic river recently that nigga Sean Penn was basically poplocking in the cops arms during the crying scene

Yeah, I gotta watch. David Morse is so good in The Crossing Guard. Feel like I only saw him playing hard asses and big bads in Green Mile, The Rock, The Negotiator, 12 Monkeys, etc. Penn gets a lot more out of him.

It's filming in the same area of California Vineland is set in. I think it might be a loose adaptation the way There Will Be Blood is of the Sinclair book.

“PTA might be loosely adapting Pynchon’s novel and setting it in today’s world.”
They thinking it could be a loose adaptation on Vineland. Kinda like how The Master and TWBB were loose adaptations too.
