movie was pretty good id probably put it 3rd in PTA films after TWBB and The Master
the race play s\*\*\* with teyana and sean penns characters is the only big miss for me
everyone gave a goat performance tho. Where tf did Wood Harris come from
she’s a runner…
Very satisfying character storytelling, beautiful and immersive cinematography and camera work, captivating music that drives the visuals and emotions, and performances that give the whole thing a pounding heart
Who are youuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anderson said f*** my peers i’m de palma, i’m MOTHER F***ING copolla level nigga
nigga i’m hitchcock level f*** outta my face
Who are youuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that magic harmony between screenwriting and acting that only happens maybe once a generation of films
there’s gonna be black people who critique this movie just off the strength it’s a white guy doing a big budget blaxpoitation film for the first half hour
if you don’t see the value in that kinda cinematic history and/or find problems with it’s history of white directors making “black” stories of resistance and resilience, i don’t think you’ll ever see eye to eye with the film
and that’s okay, i don’t blame anyone for rejecting it even after seeing it.
but i truly believe anderson show’s a lot of love and nuance to teyana’s character. she’s never just a caricature, but i don’t blame ppl for reading it that way
at the end of the day some of those visuals will never sit right with people, but i think anderson was very tasteful. it never felt “too much” both taylor and penn really toe that line between caricature and reality so well, i give them props for it
People who complain about the lack of black men in the film are performative

i need to see it again but i think my fav or at least most powerful part of the film was watching Teyana's character after she had the baby.
I thought you saw the fd video?
I’m not even sure what FD is.
But if it’s the person yall have been discussing I’m good.
I read something about “jungle p**** is a racist name….oh wait that’s HER actual name? Well PTA should’ve gave more context”
also, C***actually being the acronym had me dead asf every time they mentioned the group
this movie just does not have an off switch, an off moment, it’s pure fantasy and reality, that special space that only exists in movies and dreams.
it never let’s go of the audience’s eye, their desires, their dreams
the country is so far right rn that maybe the whitest director ever felt like he had to write about this political moment via the backdrop of a leftist militia freeing imprisoned migrants
love his movies but it’s true
she deserves it she’s the heart and soul of the movie !!! would be a great win

it made me cry, that’s when i knew we were in for a classic

nah has to be right
its gotta be but i feel like i only heard that s*** on here and TheColi
bauman is brilliant, he never over does it. every shot is so f***ing tasteful.
you never get a shot for too long. the camera never feels like it’s flaunting. it’s pure movie magic, kinetic energy that doesn’t stop. it starts with a mother running from and ends with daughter running to
Ever since the situation with phantom thread with the shared responsibility I’ve had the preconception pta is shadow Dp but I am incredibly ignorant of the craft and don’t want to disrespect Bauman work and expertise. What’s your take on him as a cinematographer?
PT is shot much different and less kinetic as you say than LP and OBAA but yea I’m not keyed into that discipline

dude yea i’m like no way it’s intentional
