Is the timejump to Willa doing karate with the steely dan needle drop for me, but that one is close
I kinda hate Steely Dan so I struggled not to roll my eyes there lol

amazing moment
Lockjaw having a black women fetish ≠ the movie fetishizing black women
Basic media literacy
that's not where the black women fetish accusations are coming from. It's the way her character is written & directed and the fact that Leo's character is also a stand in for PTA doesn't help either. idk what to tell you man, you just need to start talking to more Black women lol I watched it alone and still felt icky during the first 30 mins. idk how many times you're going to call Black women idiots for feeling a certain way about a film that's also trying to cater to them.
FD's on point except when he talks about Junglepussy. He's just wanting to be right there. He barely even watches movies and should honestly stick to what he knows. Here's a better review tho blackgirlwatching.substack.com/p/one-battle-after-another-review

Where's the problem in how the character is "written and directed"?
Also your pulling s*** outta nowhere, both characters are "stand in" for the characters in the book.

stand in is a very popular term for a director writing himself into a character. even critics praising the movie see bob as a stand in for PTA albeit diff reasons
he has a film nerd grabbin teyana taylor’s ass saying IM HERE FOR THE BLACK GIRLS it’s a fair assessment for ppl to say it’s a stand in
People who complain about the lack of black men in the film are performative
saying something is performative is the lowest form of critique right now i hate it
Damn. Just barely realized we only had 1 nigga in there :/
wood harris is a legend i can’t say anymore bc idk how to spoiler tag
Ever since the situation with phantom thread with the shared responsibility I’ve had the preconception pta is shadow Dp but I am incredibly ignorant of the craft and don’t want to disrespect Bauman work and expertise. What’s your take on him as a cinematographer?
PT is shot much different and less kinetic as you say than LP and OBAA but yea I’m not keyed into that discipline
this was a genuine question and i don’t want to lead you astray because you may be more informed than i am my friend.
i’m also not the biggest anderson fan it’s been so long since i seen there will be blood and the master. i skipped inherent vice and licorice pizza. i even haven’t seen phantom thread yet, so im going to hold off until i really immerse myself in his filmography

The film portrays bob as a failure and a joke, how is it a self-insert for pta? Because he’s watching battle of Algiers in one scene?
The black girls line is an obvious parody of the stereotypical awkward white guy, hes constantly awkwardly shouting phrases and stuff like f*** the police and viva la revolution and s***. I doubt PTA views himself like that…
The way bob accomplished nothing and all the real heroes are black women, the latino sensei, etc. already serves as a perfect stand in for privileged white dudes I don’t get how it’s also a stand in for pta

Dijon. I don't know what else you needed to say.

That's your opinion. A very misguided one.
That's my nephew
my b i didn’t know that
Entire f***ing movie felt urgent
True but that was the one scene where I really felt with my fight or flight responses
