I feel like The Master, Phantom Thread, Inherent Vice, and probably There Will Be Blood fall into it. And by that I mean... they're about two characters who are almost cosmically fated to keep finding each other in the same orbit. The scene in Licorice Pizza with Sean Penn riding the motorcycle is sooo good. It's like our characters enter a new story and that story forgets about them just as they find each other again.

If we being real that’s damn near all PTA movies, he said he likes to start off with two characters and figure out what their conflict is.

Boogie nights has that also where Mark and Jack find they way back to each other. PDL….i wouldn’t count Magnolia tho.
