Without a doubt there was some digital grading on top of the colour timing done, but one of the biggest things you want to preserve rather than alter/enhance with VV is the incredible, multifaceted colour temperance along with the gorgeous highlights (you’ve described them as “milky” in the past which is accurate), especially on skin and clothing. the virtue of using vistavision stock is that it already gets you 75-80% of the way there in terms of the film’s final look, without a doubt this is one of the most perfect uses of the format ever. Just from the eye test this movie held up almost flawlessly between the 70MM, digital IMAX, regular digital, and home release versions that I watched

Oh y’all talking that smart talk in here

Now that you say it, I’m seeing the temperance is where a lot of that character comes in. One would think it’s in the vibrant poppy colors, or even the blacks but it’s really that beige washing over the stock’s color. Or just the milkiness lol

Tbh if you really pay attention to it, it cut's both ways in terms of the political spectrum, I thought anyway.

Leo's character being a fair-weather revolutionary stuck out to me on first viewing

Perfidia killing the black guard then twerking all over lockjaw, ditching Leo and her kid etc.

Normie movie goers not used to these kinda flawed characters in their blockbusters

are we worried that all the backlash (from people that don't watch movies) all over the Internet about Sinners not winning everything is going to impact OBAA's Oscar chances?

    I don’t think so.

The same type of people writing think pieces about OBAA was also writing think pieces on Sinners when it came out

if Oscars had "best scene" the music scene would STILL lose to River of Hills

i'm not arguing that Sinners is better than OBAA, I just think it has a run and a strong argument for original screenplay, cinematography, score, casting, and more.

Director/picture deserve to go to PTA though imo.
