finally an appropriate role for Sean penn’s particular brand of overacting
He lays it on so thick in Thin Red Line
Vibe recalls PDL weirdly enough
The original PDL was suppose to be super violent too

he’s does but he’s great in that for me, but pick basically anything else
I like Mystic River
I also do a lot but I’ve rarely seen someone ham it up like that, he won an Oscar for that

It looks cool my favorite PTA is him in the more staid understated cheeky mold but this giving PDL and IV and I’m curious how I’ll take it. I love those movies I’m just wondering how zany this will be. Seems so decidedly different that I can’t imagine what it is going to be. In my head I’m feeling an extended vibe of Bradley Coopers scenes in LP.
Rewatched Punch-Drunk Love for the first time in like a decade today and it shares a lot more DNA with OBAA than I initially thought. I forgot how frenetic that movie can be at times.

i was put off the first couple times trying to watch it when i was younger because of that scene in his warehouse early on when the score is super loud, the sound effects are all blaring and you can't really hear what is being said
Variety’s already writing hit pieces like PTA flopping is gonna stop him from making bangers

The warehouse scene when he’s on the phone with the scammer, the workers are f***ing up dropping boxes and the sister is nagging????

It's going to hit that $260m number they mention in the article. Book it
I never understood why people criticize a movie or show because there aren’t characters to root for. Personally I don’t usually watch things with the intent to root for characters . Sometimes a movie is just full of unredeemable or bad people, and that’s fine.
Also I really hate how often these publications talk about box office and budgets numbers now. We should just appreciate that PTA was given a giant budget to bring his vision to the big screen

On source said Anderson voluntarily trimmed between eight to 10 minutes from “One Battle” after early screening feedback.''
i appreciate auteurs taking huge backs and not giving af if it flops, but its cool to seeing someone as respected as PTA seemingly being down to play ball and make sure his film does well, wanting to make a crowdpleaser etc

https://twitter.com/variety/status/1905705543005790508How can anyone see Leo yelling "VIVA LA REVOLUCIÓN ✊" and struggle to have characters to root for
Also like I just mentioned above...it's breaking even easily. $300m WW is realistic

flower moon got up to $158.8 million and that was an apple TV struggle theatrical release
gatsby - 356 million
wolf of wallstreet - 407 million
revenanet - 533 million
ouatih - 391 million
obviously lots of factors to adjust when comparing, like the fact people go to see movies way less in 2025, the co-stars of those movies vs the co-stars of this movie, the release dates etc
but i think factoring ALL those, looking at the trailer, looking at the test screen reactions....it could very well be a success
