mfs watch a movie and immediately think “these are the director’s personal morals??? ewwww”
it’s a f***ing piece of entertainment media bro what do y’all not understand???
dude asked if everyone was just “ignoring the racism” when the only racist moments come from a dude the movie makes obvious is a complete moron
and the pedophilia isn’t glorified either lmfao the woman is obviously lost and trying to find herself, making lots of bad decisions all throughout the film, one of which is entertaining a romantic relationship with a kid.
i stg i don’t understand how some people are so f***ing dumb and don’t even realize it
if i didn’t already have him blocked i’d quote Purple Shayn
Hate to do it but had to take a page from your book and block some incessant fools itt that wouldn't let me live

@RASIE let's talk about it
S*** was beautiful, and hilarious.
The "Japanese" talk caught us so off guard we were cracking up
One of his best imo
Film feels like culmination of all his previous works but with even more ambivalences and ambiguities as well as a mastery of lighting and complex staging that I didn't know I've been missing in contemporary Hollywood cinema. Can't wait to rewatch. Hope it holds up.

Just saw this. Really, really great. Not familiar with PTA’s work (I don’t watch movies often tbh), but I will definitely do my research
When Alana and Gary are driving together and “Stumblin In” starts playing

No way don’t look up is nominated
watched for the second time the day before yesterday. I loved it even more.
my obvious gripe is the unnecessary need for a 10 year age gap but I think their relationship supersedes the need to even pay attention to that because they're like literally best friends in watching the movie play out, trying to find their ways. this feels more like an alana movie than a Gary movie on the second watch. Alana is the one that is looking for a way "out" and trying to find herself, and find things that other people find interesting about her and wondering what it is she wants out of her life. now where it goes from here is in question but that's the point.

You’re in for an amazing experience, wow. I’d suggest starting from Hard Eight and just watching all his movies in chronological order
