The RAM is the most expensive part of this pic
Finally got everything built out and set up
5080 (PayPal 20% + capitol one rewards + PayPal screwed up and gave me a extra $200) - $400
7800X3D - $315
B650 (WOOT BNIB) - $78
Teamgroup 32gb DDR5 6000 CL38 - $100
2TB WD + 1TB WD - $200
PSU came from my old build
$1,093
I’m now terrified it’ll break at any moment. Probably never getting deals like that again in my life.
I had a 4tb ssd coming for $150 but Best Buy refused to ship it
For 4tb ssd’s… YYMV but did this back in March ish. Went on Facebook marketplace. Put limit to 500 miles. And searched all around US. Harassed random people with cheap listings and asked them to ship. Ended up buying 3 4tb NVME SSD’s for a total of $500 and sold 2 of them for $300 each
Got a SN850X and sold 2 990 pro’s

But does it run doom?
Couldn’t figure out why Fortnite was continuously stuttering for a few frames every 3-5 seconds. Only fix I found that worked was going into device manager and disabling my Ethernet controller. It stopped immediately once disabled.
Pc gaming can be so stupid
Luckily I get great speeds on wireless, but idk what I’m gonna do if I ever have to use Ethernet.

Have you checked the ethernet connections and possibly tried a different router port/cable?
With all the ass hattery taking place with the increase of consumer pc part prices, would it make sense to upgrade to a 4080? I’m rocking a 2080 super right now and she does just fine, but I worry that prices will only increase due to less consumer friendly outputs. I don’t want a 50 series due to having to upgrade to ddr5 and could see the 4080 lasting another 5-10 years.
got a g920 for christmas man this is so sick
only thing that sucks is having to set it up each time to use it kinda want something to put it in and not have to worry about
Also excited to try some racing games with vr been having an amazing time with beamng

I don’t think there’s any reason not to upgrade now if you even slightly want to. Prices will be going way up.
The second hand GPU market is still pretty screwed for the 40 series (unless you can find a good deal locally) used 4080s go for around msrp 5070 ti prices.
You can use 50 series cards with DDR4. Slight performance difference compared to DDR5 but it’s not a huge deal.

Is it gonna bottle neck crazy? I don’t need to game at 4K, but I’d hate for there to be hiccups down the line. I also do light video editing and wouldn’t want it to get bogged down. The 4080 just seems like less of a headache.

If your other components are as old as the 2080 you’ll be bottlenecked either way you go unfortunately, unless you do a full system upgrade.
Putting in a 50 series shouldn’t give you any headaches outside of needing a 12v power connector or an adapter if your PSU doesn’t support it. Like I said with how second hand prices are, I think it’s worth paying the slight premium for a new card with a warranty. But ultimately up to you, a sub $650 4080 would be a good deal.

I’ve been looking into it more the last few days. Seems to only happen on MBs with certain Realtek controllers and only in Fortnite. Doesn’t matter if you update drivers, only way to fix it is disable and run on wireless.
I’d need a whole new board if I ever want the stuttering to stop and play wired
