Tired of hearing "Snek? Snek!? SNEEEEEEK!"
Just ordered a gaming PC for my brother as a bday present. Mind you idk anything about PC gaming. I got him this
Alienware - Aurora R12 Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-11700F - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD - Lunar Light
How good is this for beginners?

Alienware or anything Dell isn’t particularly the best tbh. But specs seem good. For anyone getting a pre built I always say NZXT BLD simply because you can choose your own parts and the parts are standardized. Alienware usually uses specific parts for their chassis so if you wanted to maybe change cases or do some upgrades it’s harder.
Finna replay Skyrim…. I still haven’t finished any of the new games I bought but I got an urge to play.

I see people all the time saying Alienware sucks and others saying it’s amazing. The only explanation I get for it sucking is “it’s overpriced” and “the fan gets loud when you push the cpu to max potential”

Not only that it'd be one thing if it was overpriced with actual good hardware it's overpriced with cheap hardware. And the performance is not good because of how bad the hardware is they cheap out on that goes with the components.
GamerNexus did a teardown and review of one they purchased. Gives you an idea of the quality and performance of a prebuilt from them.

You can choose your parts on an alienware pc. Also I been using mine for 2 years and while its not the model the guy above me posted but an older one its been great since. I also cant relate to the overpriced point since I got 20% student discount on it which made it incredibly cheap.
Im not a PC dude thats why I took a prebuilt one but everythings been great so far. When you wanna uprade RAM you gotta buy it from dell tho
In conclusion I wouldnt worry they seem to be doing fine and you get guarantee and other percs which made it very easy

Alienware let's you choose the specs not the actual individual components. Meaning you can choose 16gb of ram but you can't choose what manufacturer they put in, or the psu or the aib for the gpu, what's used for cooling, etc...
For the most part it's going to be like you pointed out unstandardized components that they manufacture simply so you have to continue to purchase from them if you want to make any upgrades. The psu's are non standard, they will not fit in any other case but there's, same with the motherboard...
Everytime I upgrade something on my rig and say "No more upgrades", something else comes to mind.
Homelab s*** I'm working on for work got me wanting/needing to max out my RAM now (64GB), currently at (32GB)
Just bought a humble bundle with some repeats in it, anyone want a steam key for one or more of these?

Been using variations of these for years (Official from MS like the one linked, not 3rd party)
Perfect experience on my end. Actually using that model right now on both rigs.

Good enough I guess
Any idea if Graphics card will return to normal pricing? Or are they just going to stay up like this?

Depends on what you trying to get. You can get 3080 12g and 3090's pretty easily now. They're expensive as hell on their own though so that's why they're available.
