I held off on buying X on Blu Ray because I wanted a 4K but now part of me thinks that A24 is going to release a 4K box set with X, Pearl, and MaXXXine

I really really enjoyed this, I think X slightly takes the edge for which I liked more because I really love the 70s horror vibe and how well made as a whole that movie is, but damn does this come really close. Mia Goth gives a hell of a performance. It was a lot of fun to watch and glad I went with friends who loved X as well.

Better than X but not by much, better gore. Fell asleep during her talking to the sister in law. Sorry I’ll take my grotesque horror without uninspired monologue.

Barbarian does everything better as a horror. It’s funnier. Better legitimate scares. Better at shifting momentum constantly to set up the next scare. Better makeup, basement mother compared to pearls burned mother. Essentially the same dynamic between the old man and crazy lady in both, but Barbarian doesn’t waste time with Hector Salamanca and “controlling mean mom” stereotyped writing for most of the film.

Pearl and X are okay movies to me but i could see somebody who doesn’t want a traditional horror experience to enjoy them a lot. This was a coming of age film flirting with horror concepts until the concluding moments.

See this is what I’m talking about, you either know what you’re talking about when it comes to horror or you don’t
