But in reality I think we are comparing the wrong people. I think Cole and Drake are way more comparable. Both started around the same time. Both had a pretty good mixtape run. Both had to be put on by legends (Wayne and Hov respected.) Both had to prove themselves as lyricists (2014 FHD vs IYRTITL.) Both have labels but are definitely the biggest benefactors of them. Both light skin. Both rap about similar subject matters. Both get s*** on for stepping out their lanes and doing different styles and get accused of biting. Both legends when it’s all said and done when looking at it objectively in terms of how much they’ve sold. Both had major glow ups from when they first came in the game and how they are now. I can keep going tbh

Drake and Hov are most likely the 2 biggest names in hip hop when everything is said and done. Cole isn’t really close.

J cole shouldn’t really be in any conversation between kanye drake or jay z. The commercial success just isn’t the same as those guys.

People always say Cole vs Kendrick or Kendrick vs Drake but in my personal experience I don’t see Cole vs Drake nearly as much when I feel like they’re the two most comparable

Gonna disagree with pretty much all those arguments besides the Kendrick one. People wanna try to act like Cole can’t rap which is wrong. People wanna act like his s*** doesn’t stack up either. Drake had the better discography but like it’s literally not nearly as much of a landslide people wanna say. I get it’s cool and trendy to hate on Cole on the internet but most rap fans think he’s a good artist with a hit or miss discography similar to how Drake is. Idk man
