Hip hop wouldn’t be even close to as mainstream and commercially viable as it is now without him breaking it through to the suburbs.
And part of that is because he’s white. But writing off his talent isn’t fair or accurate. If Jack Harlow was tryna do what Em did in 1999 he would not have blown like that.
Not only that, but Em brought us 50. Not only THAT, but his style has influenced a s*** ton of rappers that came after him, in all different styles, from Tyler to Kendrick.
And finally, even though his larger fan base is infamous for only listening to him and no other rappers, he DID get a lot of people, like me, who were unfamiliar with rap to check it out and fall in love.
He’s cemented
EDIT: just realized that it might look like I’m calling Harlow talentless in this post from a certain POV. I don’t think that’s true, and he has skill, but he’s nowhere near Em and will not reach GOAT status like Em did without a major boost in his rapping
