OP is actually pushing 40 according to another thread so I understand his concern with finding someone. It gets harder the older you get

Or he's lying just to get replies lol look at his avi, is that avi of a 36 year old?

Be surprised how common herpes is

U dont always get it from sex.

But the person that has it 99.9% doesnt plan on trying to pass it, so you good money @op

I think of it this way: regardless of the decision, my dating pool would severely be limited.

Drop her? Great, now I have to be cautious and thoroughly get every person I plan on f***ing to get tested and we know not everyone is willing to jump through those hurdles and hoops. Besides, due to the prevalence rate, I could very well still catch it (arguably with a higher chance) and making me feeling like an ass for passing up on a good woman...to only end up with the same disease I feared getting from her. What if I don't find someone as good as her too? There could be that.

Keep her? There's probably a decent chance of catching is sometime during the relationship, especially if we're planning on going for over multiple years. In case of catching it, I'd feel like the biggest clown in the world getting myself into the risk knowing beforehand and the psychological toll seems immense. Not to mention having to mention it to future potential partners, god forbid this relationship doesn't work out.

I feel extremely s***ty having to be in-between this, either scenario doesn't sound good and essentially comes to which one is the less s***ty scenario.

She's real thick and frankly a beautiful woman all-around, rubbing salt on the wound.

All OP needs to do is become a passport bro

There are risks with that too, forget about them potential having an STD but what if they use you for a green card? Assuming I'm planning on settling with them. Besides, chances of that happening seems way higher than catching an STD and the psychological toll can be great too (May not be lifetime, but could stick).

You gotta unlearn that stigma bro.

You gotta unlearn that stigma bro.

Perhaps and maybe I'm thinking of saying f*** it and going YOLO knowing it could truly be with a woman who's worth it. To give you a little update, we had a long convo on phone yesterday after the fact and we're still broken up (Plans for the coming weeks are off the table too).

We're thinking of going in for a blood test together either way and determine if I got the antibodies for it. Even if I change my mind and decide to get back together, that's not a guarantee from her end.

With that said I'll need few weeks and see if its truly worth it.

EDIT: Again to clarify, this is HSV1 and NOT HSV2

this is why i’m scared of having sex. if you can still catch some s*** even while wearing a condom (which is uncomfortable for me), then wtf is the point of wearing one?

Thanks bro, and what's crazy is there's a much higher risk of unwanted pregnancy than catching an STD with a condom (15% chance). Really mind boggling if you think about it and makes me question everything with dating.

At the same time these are the risks I'll have to accept if I want to continue finding someone. Otherwise I'd have to abstain from s***and that s*** seems lame ngl.

Some people just don't care and assume that just because they're not seeing symptoms or getting anyone pregnant, they think everything's good.

Being in the middle of this situation has taught me so much, ngl. Made me completely change my perspective on dating as a whole.

If she's using you for a green card or money it's very obvious. The men who fall in that trap are desperate guys that ignored every red flag. Also not all of them even want to live in another country.

It's not hard to filter through the ones that want to use you and the ones that actually f*** with you. All you have to do is not fall for them just bc they give you attention. Do some simple tests on them and it'll be clear if they're someone you should take seriously or not.
