I've got an end game save ready just so I can fight through the last palace again.

Are palaces like the dungeons of the game ?

Persona 3, 4, and 5 were directed by the same creative leads and share similar gameplay, which gets refined with each new installment. If you enjoy one of them, you’ll probably enjoy the others.

Persona 3 set the foundation for the modern Persona titles, but I found it a little rough around the edges after playing 4 and 5. The dungeon crawling can often feel like a grind since you’ll be climbing up the same tower for pretty much the whole game, and I wasn’t too invested in the story or the characters. Thematically, the game is about people trying to cope with death (if that interests you).

Persona 4 is fantastic. It has a strong cast of characters and an engaging story, and the country town that the game takes place in is one of my favourite video game settings. Thematically, the game is about people trying to gain an understanding of themselves and the world around them, which ties in to the dungeon crawling, social sim elements, and murder mystery plot quite nicely.

I haven't played the first few Persona games. They're pretty dated by now so I don't think I'd have the patience for them, and the series basically got a soft reboot when the new creative leads took over with Persona 3.

This video is a pretty good overview of the series:

Persona 3 still has my favorite atmosphere from what I’ve played, s*** was dark. Even the school parts felt creepy

agreed. until p5r came out, 3 fes was my favorite, but it still has the best atmosphere out of the modern persona games imo.

They're good but we're in 2020 now so some are showing signs of aging.

Persona 3 is regarded as having the best story. But if you play FES you won't be able to control your party members actions in battle. You'll just control your own actions. If you get P3 Portable then you can control everyone in battle but outside of dungeons the game becomes a point and click game with no 3D world.

Persona 4 is probably the most lighthearted but it has its serious moments ofc. Persona 4 is fine but it's highly recommended that you play Persona 4 Golden for many quality of life improvements and additional content.

Persona 1 and 2 I'mma be honest nobody cares about those.

p sure there's a mod where you can control your party in fes. could just play p3p as well.

  • I replayed P3P and P4G before P5 dropped in 2017 and I had a great time with both

Will probably be the last time I play them tho

Just be aware about the point and click style outside of dungeons. It's definitely different

I didn't find it too bad, honestly. You should be fine as long as you play carefully and properly set up your team's behaviours.
