I’ve had these 2 songs on repeat for a while now and I see mad potential. I’m excited for him.

Second song not even out yet that's how you know the brainwash is at dangerous levels. Our society is on the verge of collapse but I'm still gonna do my part to try to save the world. The new Batman left a mark on me

It’s on Apple Music. It’s called Lucky. That’s my favorite out of the 2.

Word I can see that. It seems like he was trying to push himself without committing fully to making something truly introspective or subversive

On KTT1 most of his fans were also huge Drake fans because he was one of the first artists to give him any cosigns. But then Kendrick being his cousin got confirmed and now most of his haters are huge Drake fans.

    Could be a coincidence

Ktt knew keem was kendrick cousins like way before the drake cosign that's where the keem ghostwrite for kendrick meme came from. No one thought he was gonna be drake protege lol

  • Mar 10, 2022

This doesn’t sound worthy of a Kendrick co-sign but that’s because of my expectation of what a Kendrick signee should sound like.

His voice reminds me of Quentin Miller for some reason they are both very monotone and low volume. Also the flow being kinda slow is similar. I favor Quentin his sound and melody’s tho

  • Mar 10, 2022

He should’ve done a video for Lucky

    That’s a much better song

we gotta find more words man. different words. words that actually apply.

because if we are using "artsy" as a negative term in regard to ART...

what are we doing? lol am i really one of very few that feels this way? what's wrong with wanting to go below the surface in your music? i assume that's what "deep" means.

there gotta be better words to use in our critiques. im'a think on it

that just sounds like growing pains, no? not everyone can come out the gate swinging with a full vision like that. he working it out. it doesn't have to be "deep" or "artsy" just an evolution in his art.

And I like the tape more than the album for the record. Haha

One of the key words you’re missing is “trying”. I generally don’t really like it when it feels like an artist is trying too hard to present themselves a certain way that doesn’t feel authentic

I like artsy and deep music but it just seems to me that Keem isn’t fit for that direction and they only did it to try and get him Kendrick’s fanbase

I apologize for that, that word does make the difference.

But then it becomes even more convoluted to me. Who is it up to whether the s*** is authentic or not, you know? Maybe the s*** you were introduced to was inauthentic to Keem, and this stuff is more along the lines of what he wants to set out to do. More resources, more confidence. There's a million factors.

I understand your feelings on it tho

Yeah I’m not gonna go as far as to say Keem isn’t authentic but I just kind of got that impression from the new album. You’re absolutely right that this could be what he wants to do in his soul, but at the end of the day it’s in the eye or ear of the beholder I guess right? And if it comes off that way then it could be a simple matter of execution but I just found the change of pace pretty jarring and not in a good way

I'm from LA, and I completely agree with you. It's been a major drought here.

I mean yeah ofc but I also think as an artist every project starts with a vision and the job of the artist is execution. And execution is a valid thing to critique. It’s like going to a nice restaurant and your meal is undercooked. It’s like you understand what they were going for and you have an expectation going into it, but they didn’t have the patience, resources, or know how to execute properly
