Dreaming of the Past is my favorite but overall, giving it to Pharrell…and I was really worried how Pharrell would come on this album.
Yeah him using the same drums on every beat of his was a bizarre choice on his part.
no, not really
not really at all
actually i find it strange that u would say that
P looking malnourished as his beats lately
he’s always been that skinny tho
I was worried about Pharrell bc his production been so hit or miss the past few years (some of the beats on that Nigo album outright f***ing sucked fr) but he killed it. Neck and Wrist a banger, LTSSTC, and Open Air sound like classic Clipse tracks, Scrape it Off is somehow simultaneously a perfect beat for Don, Uzi, and Pusha which should be impossible, Call My Bluff gave Push room to experiment wiith new flows …
Ye got the advantage of having Just So You Remember and Dreamin of the Past which are easily the two best beats/songs on the album but also the disadvantage of Hear Me Clearly (just fine, easily the least interesting song on IAD) and RnR and I Pray for You which feel like messes beat wise and have Push and his features flowing awkward at some points
ye got the higher highs but Pharrell wins this for me on the consistency and overall sound. at times felt like I was listening to vaulted Clipse songs on his tracks. He’s hit or miss now but when he gets back in his bag that nigga reminds you that he truly hasn’t missed a step
he’s always been that skinny tho
true maybe its the big glasses making him look like a bug
his beats still malnourished sounding
Idk I loved P’s beats on here, but I’m not an armchair expert that says s*** like he used this exact snare sound too frequently

Yeah the problem isn't really that he used the same drums

Idk what to tell you then man

What is the problem

so it wasn't weird at all when pharrell used the same drum sounds the entire rest of his career but it's strange now? what u think the neptunes were using completely different drums on every beat? no they pulled from the same kit on almost all their songs, as do most producers, as does pharrell now.
producers with a specific sound in mind will usually use the same set of drum sounds on every beat. (usually that set includes like 2-3 snares, 4-5 hihats, etc so its not the same exact snare every song, but the sound stays consistent)
pharrell has a clear picture of the sound he's going for and it involves the (kinda limited) set of drum sounds he's using rn. and that's totally fine, 100% the norm for most producers
Pharrell forgot how to make catchy/good melodies
No I don’t think that’s it ..
For me brambleton and just so you remember are the best tracks overall , but if were talking only about beats so LTSSTC is the best one from p , and DOTP from ye .
I think its a tie between them both did great , altough i think the only beats from ye are JSYR , HMC and DOTP , he didnt really produced diet coke , the last track was probably produced mostly by labrinth and R&R was both of them .
So ye only did 3 beats here if were being honest
Why has the album been released as a Ye vs P, where all P’s beat comes after each other and then all of Ye’s beats?
about even
pharrell had the hardest s*** on there with let the smokers shine the coupes
they shouldve got their own albums tbh, wouldve made more sense, because p and ye wanted to go totally different directions
