philosophy of the right is pretty easy heā€™s much more direct in it, PoS isnā€™t as hard as people (other than the part about forces) say it is but itā€™s a marathon and on my first read through i ran out of steam

I just read Euthyphro. I think I mostly digested it well except Iā€™m kinda confused on the wider examples Socrates used when talking about piety.

I understand ā€œgod loves you because you are xā€ being different than ā€œyou are x, because you are loved by godā€

but I was having a harder time wrapping my head around stuff like ā€œif anything is being affected or changed in any way, it is not being changed because it is something changed, but rather it is something changed because it is being changedā€

Am I right in understanding that difference is activity? Something changed cannot be ā€œchangedā€ because it was (past tense) changed, it is changed being it is ACTIVELY being changed?

    I feel dumb af

i usually rec it since itā€™s split into chapters with the aphorism in each chapter at least vaguely staying on topic on what the chapter is about compared to the gay science where he would talk about a topic then just leave that topic alone until he brings it up again 50 pages later. i re read Genealoy of Morals (my fav) yesterday id also rec for similar reasons to BG&E and i feel like youā€™d enjoy the third essay on the ascetic ideal especially toward the end when he starts talking about science and atheism.

i heard that twilight of the idols is the best for beginners since itā€™s him summing up his ideas around 90 pages but i havenā€™t read it

let's say u got a tree that changes colors through the seasons. the leaves are always changing, even if that process is too slow for us to see in real time. the tree's natural state of existence is constant change.

P = tree who's leaves are always changing

in the definition of P, we can see that constant change is involved. However, even as the tree changes colors, it can still be defined as P. the tree might be changing, but P is not.

P is not being changed, but P refers to an object that is being changed. Hence, P is not being changed because it is something changed, but rather P is something changed because it is being changed.
